Sidekick becomes hero to save superheroes everywhere.
Chris, aka Crypto Man, loves being a sidekick—especially the 'kicking' part. When he returns to his boyhood home to search for clues about a recent increase in villains coming from the area, he finds himself face to face with a beautiful woman, and for the first time he has a shot at being the lead hero.
Penna Banena always wanted to be a hero. She even gave up modeling to join The Warden's School for Superheroes. When she discovers it's not only a scam but is providing inside information to villains, she stays on to gather enough evidence to take the whole ring down.
Crypto Man's appearance throws her plan for a loop. He's blunt, tough, and everything she's ever hoped for in a man. And although romance has to take a backseat to defeating the bad guys, if Penna has her way Crypto Man's world will never be the same.

EXCERPT:
Penna snorted before she could hold it back.
Chris looked up, his eyebrow cocked. "What was that for?"
"I can be your sidekick? Really? You are the definition of sidekick. In regular terms, you're also about as far from an independent hero as a guy can get."
"No crap, but it's one little thing. I can take lead on one thing, especially if you already did all the leg work." He wrinkled his nose. "I don't like that you know so much about me."
She couldn't erase her memory and wouldn't, not even for him. "Sorry."
"Fine. So you'll be my sidekick—standard rules, which I assume you know?"
Her heart raced. She never, ever, even in her wildest dreams, really believed she'd be a superhero. Now she was being offered the opportunity of a lifetime—Crypto Man's sidekick. Even if it was for one small mission, she'd have it.
"I know the standard rules, but I'd like to add a Dinah-Go clause."
"And that is?"
She grinned, looking him up and down again, imagining him in his blue stretch suit as opposed to the jeans and t-shirt he currently wore. "It counters the 'no fraternizing with the sidekick' clause, leaving the door open for any kind of seduction either of us might want."
He laughed, but then stopped, looking at her as if she'd grown a horn. "You were serious? What the hell could a girl like you want with a beast like me?"
For an instant she thought the problem was in her. Maybe he didn't like stacked blondes with rocking curves, but it sounded as if he might have a problem with confidence. She stood again, knowing full well what the heels and the nude catsuit did for her body. She stepped to him, nearly eye to eye.
"I could tell you all about the things I want to do to you." She ran her hands up his sides, tracing her fingers up his muscled abdomen. "Or I could show you."

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

The fun and action-packed world of superheroes continues in Stephanie Beck's latest book release, Crypto Love.  Though this is a novella a lot happens between the hero and heroine to bring them together in work and in play.  Ms. Beck has introduced us to exciting new characters and brought back familiar faces to show us the behind the scenes lives of superheroes who are colorful with witty banter as they battle to bring down the bad guys who are closer than thought.

Penna is a rich supermodel tired of the jet set lifestyle who wants to do something meaningful, be someone special who others look up to.  To do that she enrolls in superhero school and discovers that everything isn't as it seems as she gets to be the sidekick when her favorite superhero comes to visit and helps her unravel the mystery behind his mentor's latest endeavor.  She's always had a crush on Crypto Man and is thrilled when he visits the school as it gives her the chance to seduce him....and seduce him she does.  Amongst digging into the school's background there's a sexual tug of war between them that catches him off guard and makes her feel empowered.  As he sets out to bring he bad guys to justice she's by his side kicking butt just like she always dreamed of.

Crypto Man (Chris) is a snarky superhero good with a verbal comeback but not known for his smarts.  He had a difficult and lonely childhood and it was The Warden who saved him and made him the superhero he is today.  Love is in the air which makes him feel left out as all his superhero friends have significant others.  He finds love a distraction though but is immediately drawn to the sexy and confident Penna in her skintight jumpsuit.  He's never been thought of as a leader but when he's told of his mentor's questionable acts he knows he has to act.  He admires her intelligence and diligence and as they're compatible in matters of love he finds Penna to be the perfect choice as sidekick.  The sparks fly from the moment they meet as their sexual tension increases and the witty sexual banter flies.  Once in the heat of battle, as Penna comes close to being killed, he realizes the importance of love but will he ever act on it or will he let his ego hold him back?

This was an entertaining story with larger than life characters.  Their personalities are colorful and distinctive and they add to the story's overall enjoyment.  The sexual interludes are down and dirty with a bit of playfulness to them and they're nicely spaced throughout the story.  From start to finish I found this an exhilarating roller coaster ride with a delightful blend of action and romance that sometimes seemed to be going too quickly.  This can definitely be read on its own but with such a satisfying cast of characters why miss out on a single moment.

My rating for this is a B.

AUTHOR INFO:

Even before she understood what all the thrusting meant, Stephanie Beck loved reading romance. When the stories didn't end the way she wanted, writing her own was the perfect solution. From ridiculous humor to erotica, Stephanie loves being transported within a story.
When she's not elbow deep in words, her husband and three children command her attention. After they are sleeping she knits or bakes cookies…or squeezes in more writing.
