She thought she was stepping into fame:
Meeting Drezden Halifax should have been a dream. But dreams are supposed to be sweet, fragile things that whisk you away. Not monsters crafted from hard fingers, gritty vocal cords and a voice so powerful it could tear my guts right out.
Maybe my heart, too.
Becoming the guitarist for Four and a Half Headstones was everything I needed.
Too bad the band’s lead singer is doing his best to ruin everything I am.
He thought she would solve his troubles:
Lola Cooper, god damn Lola Cooper. She was the perfect guitarist, fingers that could summon a sweet song or punch a chord. She’s supposed to save my band, make us come out of this tour in one piece…
But I just want to tear HER to pieces.
No one should make me feel this way. One look at her, one smell, and I knew I’d have to have her. She does things to me that scare the shit out of me. Make me want to slam her on a wall and listen to her cries: eager or fearful, it doesn’t matter.
I’m a monster…
And I don’t even care.
Maybe my heart, too.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
As a big fan of rockstar stories I couldn't start reading this book fast enough and was then left screaming when the end (for now) quickly followed. This is an engrossing tale that's fast-paced and oozes sexual tension from the moment Lola and Drezden meet. Surrounding them is an enticing and colorful cast of secondary characters amidst the vividly depicted sometimes gritty world of rock 'n roll.
Into this gritty and male-dominated world comes Lola who has been traveling with the band as a member of her brother's road crew. When the opportunity arises to try out for a spot playing with her favorite band her brother wholeheartedly encourages her knowing she's immensely talented. Lola's chosen in a nail biting audition but her instant attraction to Drezden makes their band practices difficult and she must make her mind go to a dark place in her past to remain focused on the music instead of Drezden. This is our first inkling that Lola's had some bad things happen to her in the past but we never learn exactly what.....yet. Outwardly Lola's exuberant with an intense love and respect for music and she's like a breath of fresh air to this rather dark music group. She's drawn to Drezden but struggles throughout this story to not let things go further as we readers feel unrelenting foreboding surrounding her and sense these unknown issues are holding her back.
Drezden is a super sexy, dominant man with a lot of stress weighing on him. He demands perfection from those around him and is enthralled by Lola's talent as well as Lola herself. He's not a very charming man but you sense there's more to him hiding below the surface. He shows flashes of compassion towards Lola as well as encouraging her to be the best he knows she can be in his own gruff way. He too has darkness surrounding him and it's keeping him from claiming Lola, though being around her is like placing a moth before the flame with scenes full of sexual tension. Not matter how gruff he appears I still found myself enthralled by him and can't wait to dig deeper into his past.
This story is completely engrossing as we see the action unfold through both Lola and Drezden's thoughts. This dual point of view gave us a greater feel of their personalities and gives hints of their dark pasts and keeps us on the edge of our seats waiting to find out what made them who they are today. The secondary characters also leapt off the page and have me longing to learn more about them as well. Overall this story is a wonderful appetizer just hinting at the powerful and dark emotions yet to come. I look forward to these two shadowed souls acting on their feelings as the sexual tension escalates in this atmospheric and well-written novella. If you're looking for an exciting new writing talent in the world of rockstars then look no further than Ms. Flite!
