Book Tour for Rocking Kin by Terri Anne Browning (REVIEW)

Rock star romances are my obsession, and when you add in the theme of second chances, I get completely giddy!  Keep reading to get a tempting glimpse of Rocking Kin by Terri Anne Browning, and its tale of the boy who left the love of his life behind when she needed him most who's trying to win her over once again.  You'll also get my impressions of this third installment in the Lucy & Harris series before adding it to your bookshelf!

With one promise her life was changed...
Saying goodbye to my mother also meant saying goodbye to my life in Virginia. After reluctantly making a promise to my mom, I was California bound with the father who I haven’t seen since I was four years old. I was miserable living under the same roof as my step-monster and the two step-bitches from hell. My only saving grace? Lucy Thornton, daughter to Demon’s Wings’ drummer, Jesse Thornton. Without her friendship—and her odd rocker family taking me in as one of their own—I was sure I would have lost my mind after the first week.
A blast from her past...
I never thought I would see Jace St. Charles again. Honestly, after the way he’d broken my heart, I would have been just fine without having to see his face for the rest of my life. With Lucy’s close friendship with Harris Cutter, owner of the hottest new club in SoCal and Jace’s new boss, I was forced to see that damn face often. Forced to see the way every girl seemed to trip over themselves to get close to him.
A second chance?
Being tossed into one situation after another with Jace made it hard to fight the fact that I wasn’t as immune to him as I wanted to be. But, damn it, I was only human and he was hell bent on winning me back.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Readers who enjoy second chance romances will find extra enjoyment in this tale being set in the rock star world. The chance to become a rock star is what separates Jace and Kin and leads to an angst-fueled reunion once tragedy sends her West to where Jace's band is gaining notoriety. Jace's attempts to reunite with the girl he's never stopped loving aren't made easy as Kin's carrying a lot of anger and feelings of betrayal as he left her when she needed him most. Moments of groveling and a few melodramatic twists and turns lead to a journey that's heartbreaking at times but ultimately satisfying as this is a likable couple easy to relate to.

Kin's gone through a lot after her mother's death took her away from the safety net of friends who are like family and set her down amongst a step-mother and step-sisters straight out of Cinderella's story. She's made to feel inferior as loneliness sets in before her introduction to Lucy, the adopted daughter of a rock star. They're a formidable pairing whose adventures are entertaining and put them close to the men they love. Kin's anger at Jace is palpable and at first her youth has her making him work to win her back, but their connection is crackling and had me rooting for him to quickly make amends as they're delightful together. Jace quickly realized he'd made a mistake in leaving her behind, but her showing up as his band is on the cusp of fame is a sign. He may not always say the right thing to Kin but it's clear how he feels. He's sexy and charming and in many words and deeds he makes his feelings for her clear, willing to brave all angst to win her back in a sweet and sensual journey to HEA.

As much as I enjoyed these two together, their romance wasn't in the forefront. Once again readers are given a glimpse into the complicated connection between Lucy and Harris as they wage an emotional battle full of push and pull. Lucy's a strong-willed girl who's sassy but loyal to those she cares about. Her feelings for Harris are hard to define but when he's close to her he's a different man and their scenes together were captivating. Along with this engaging couple comes a slew of secondary characters (mostly the members of Jace's band) that left an indelible mark on me as I long for their stories to be told. Ultimately, it makes for a story with a lot going on that left me wanting more of Jace and Kin. Their story is just a fraction of this overall book and by the end readers are still left with questions. On a whole though this is an emotional story full of highs and lows that had me wholeheartedly immersed in the outcome.

My rating for this is a B.
