She hates him and his big head.
He likes her and her big t*ts.
She hates him because she somehow ends up naked every time she sees him.
He likes her because she somehow ends up naked every time he sees her.
She hates him because the big oaf knocked her up with his kid.
He likes her because she’s carrying his child.
She hates the way he gets inside her head.
He likes the way she lets him see glimpses of her heart.
Andie: I hate you.
Roman: I know…but I’m going to change that.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
When it comes to romance novels I enjoy couples whose connections crackle and jump off the page. With this book, these authors have given us an unforgettable couple who are larger than life with interactions that are loud and erotically charged. Andie and Roman may have started out as enemies but their obvious chemistry led to an unplanned pregnancy that has them trying to make something more out of their complicated connection. Over the top emotions, a bit of suspense courtesy of a crazed former co-worker, and glimpses of enticing pairings to come drive this story through many twists and turns to its satisfying conclusion.
Andie's a strong-willed woman tainted by her past courtesy of a father who left when the going got tough and a mother who died far too soon. The loss had her closing off her heart and distrusting all men as her disappointment in her father taught her. With Roman she finds a man who accepts all her quirks wholeheartedly, one worthy of her letting down her walls for. It was hard for her though and she often fell back on her bitchy tendencies which frustrated me more often than not as she purposely sabotaged their relationship. She always assumed the worst of him, abused him with her harsh words while making all sorts of mocking comments that got very old after awhile. Some might enjoy her fiery nature but it grated on my nerves. Every sweet moment was ruined by her and I kept hoping that she'd mellow out, but that never really happened. From start to finish Andie was a bull in a china shop with her brashness and aggressive demeanor. While I can appreciate her sticking up for herself and her friends, I grew weary of her over the top emotions that bordered on frenzied.
While Andie diminished some of my love for this book, it was Roman who stole the spotlight. Roman grew up with a loving mother and supportive siblings and it's made him a man bent on making the woman he loves happy. Throughout this story he said so many sweet things and committed so many heartwarming acts that made me teary-eyed. He put up with every smack and every smart ass comment from her and kept coming back for more. He's the quintessential book boyfriend and his strong and supportive personality endeared him to me and has me adding him to my list of drool-worthy heroes.
This was a fast-paced read crackling with eroticism courtesy of its combustible main couple. Though Andie often annoyed me I enjoyed her sexually-charged connection to Roman which kept this story moving at a frantic pace as they scorched up the sheets and many other surfaces. Roman was a delicious hero with a capital H! He was sweet and sexy and swore to do everything in his power to make Andie happy...and boy did he. The romance here was strong but Andie's co-worker becoming unhinged took this tale in an unnecessary direction. Frank's actions were melodramatic and soap opera-ish and did nothing to enhance the overall story and I wish it had been left out. I enjoyed seeing the couple from the previous book in this series, enjoyed the support they gave to Roman and Andie and the colorful sense of family their group created. Throughout this story readers were also given glimpses of bartender Bret, whose playfulness and sensuality caught my attention, and who I'd love to see more of as he's a player and deserves to be put through the wringer by some strong-willed woman. Linc, Andie's stepbrother, also captivated me. He's a bit rough around the edges and a bit of a bad boy with his tats and blatant sexiness. His attraction to the sweet and emotionally bruised Reagan has me excited for the future as she offers friendship while his questionable past might complicate things between them. All in all this was a good story with a few hiccups to keep it from being great. Despite my few quibbles I look forward to revisiting these quirky characters as I've become fully invested in the HEAs of all these unforgettable characters!
