Jett Olsson isn’t looking for anything serious and she’s not looking for anything at all, so why does it seem so hard to keep it professional?
I love my life—the thrill of being on the ice as part of the Arizona Vengeance, the rush of winning, the adoration of the fans. And if that adoration means I don’t have to spend the night alone, well even better. I’m content being single and always ready to mingle.
But the day Emory Holland walks into a Vengeance team meeting my attention is caught like never before. I can tell right away she’s full of smarts and sass, and the fact that she’s hot as hell sure doesn’t hurt either. She immediately shuts down my advances, so I opt for the road less traveled—straight to the friend zone.
My approach works like a charm, and when she invites me into her bed for a no-strings, friends-with-benefits arrangement, I vow to give her everything I have. She’s been hurt before, and if I’m able to help her heal while giving her a spectacularly satisfying time *pats self on back*, then I’ll be happy.
Or at least that’s the lie I keep telling myself as the time ticks down on the final buzzer of our “relationship”. Now the real question is, can I score the winning goal in a game neither of us realized we were playing?

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

The Arizona Vengeance series continues to entertain...even after ten books!  From the first page to the last this was a sweet and sexy story of friends becoming lovers, a friendship that becomes something so much more after trying to keep things in the friend zone.  Add in witty banter and a heartwarming connection and you end up with a classic Sawyer Bennett story that gave me an afternoon full of delight.

Jett Olsson's a young hockey player, a young man who enjoys his time on the ice as well as fun times with female fans off the ice.  He's not a manwhore by any means but he's definitely not looking for a relationship either.  The moment he sees Emory though is the moment where everything changes for him as he becomes determined to win her over in a romance that flowed naturally and realistically.  They may have started out as friends with benefits, but it's not long before he wants more from her and does all he can to keep her in his life permanently.  Jett's a delicious hero, a caring young man with a laid back attitude who made me smile.  He and Emory had a crackling connection that scorched up the pages, while showing a softer side in his interactions with Emory's daughter and sister that warmed my heart.

Emory Holland's been burned by love in the past so she's become a more guarded person because of it, putting her daughter first and keeping men for only entertainment.  The moment she meets Jett there's an instant attraction but she wants nothing to do with him...at least at first.  Before long though she comes to find the idea of friends with benefits to be appealing in a connection full of steam in and out of the bedroom.  Before she knows it she finds them connecting on a much deeper level, one that was sweet and full of heart.  They became a formidable pairing, one that I found delightful to see evolve.

From start to finish this was a nicely crafted romance, one with a nice flow and likable characters.  Jett and Emory were good together.  Their connection built slowly and steadily, allowing me to become invested in their outcome.  Though there was a bit of push/pull from Emory at the beginning, and an issue with her ex later on, this was a story light on the angst.  It was a rather straightforward read, one similar to other books in this series, but no less entertaining.  Though there was a sense of familiarity to this story I'm still looking forward to the next installment and will keep reading this series as long as Ms. Bennett keeps writing them.

My rating for this is a B+
