MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

With each new release in this series, the tone is getting progressively darker with the curtain moving to reveal the truth behind the joy and smiles of circus life.  A family of traveling circus performers have come to roost in this story with their new home leading to a search for the truth, a truth that affects their family and involves workers (and other shadowy characters) in a web of danger and edge of your seat suspense.  Bringing together two crackling characters in a sizzling romance offers a nice balance to the darkness and it kept me frantically turning the pages of this sensual and raw read.

Early on Winston and Crimson had one night together, but it clearly wasn't enough as fate led them back into each other's arms amidst a messy web of painful pasts and hurtful truths as secrets continue to come out into the light.  Winston and Crimson are a compelling couple with issues weighing on them that affect their pairing and their future.  Early on, Winston doesn't think he's capable of love or HEA and having his past revealed made for some gut wrenching discoveries that hurt my heart.  Along with painful pasts and harsh truths is a combustible romance full of steam and surprising sweetness.  Crimson gives Winston all he can handle in a connection full of fiery banter, a sensual tug of war, as well as moments of heart and soul that brought a tear to my eye.

In a series that has taken readers down an increasingly dark rabbit hole, Ms. Vale has dealt with modern day issues in an unforgettable way that pulls you into the story wholeheartedly.  She's dealt with the painful truths of child sex trafficking, dealt with it in a raw and realistic way, that keeps readers fully invested from the first page to the last.  As more and more about their father is revealed, the overall storyline takes an even more emotional turn on a rollercoaster ride that puts readers through the wringer.  Along with seeing the healing power of love's effect on the previous couples, seeing them finally start living after their painful pasts were revealed, I got to thoroughly enjoy seeing Folsom and am greatly anticipating where the last two books in this series will take us.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

From a child's perspective the circus is seen as a place of joy and wonder. But in the hands of Ms. Vale the circus world becomes a dark and emotionally painful place, particularly for a young woman whose family is entrenched in this world.  It becomes a place of long-held secrets with Ms. Vale reintroducing readers to Hades Singh, sharing her heartbreaking history and giving greater insight into what makes her truly tick.  The previous book showed her to be a prickly, angry, and hurtful person that made her difficult to like but here she redeems herself in reader's eyes, showing where that pain comes from in a story that brought tears to my eyes at times.

Hades' truth is revealed in this book and it had me completely sympathetic towards her, feeling her pain right alongside her, and rooting for her to find even a little bit of happiness after all the pain of her childhood.  She finds more than just a bit of happiness though with Hannibal Allan Peters, an ex-military man who owns a security agency and who agrees to help Hades find her sister's stalker.  From the moment they meet, Hannibal shows himself to be just the kind of man Hades needs, the man to fix all of her broken pieces to fit into her life perfectly.  Hannibal has some pain of his own but from the start it becomes all about Hades for him, becoming her unconditional savior in a romantic journey that was sweet and sensual with a pace that pulled me in completely. Ms. Vale depicted Hades' struggles with a deep understanding that made me feel an even deeper connection to her.  It made me appreciate Hannibal's unwavering support as she was finally able to give voice and be seen after a lifetime of hiding her true self behind the pain. Hannibal and Hades were pure perfection in another unforgettable tale from an author who knows just what readers want...though they might not always know it!  And with all the truths revealed here, the future of this series promises to be rocky with more romance and tears on the horizon!

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

After 24 books Ms. James continues to give readers unforgettable stories with larger than life characters...and this 25th installment in the Cerberus MC books is no exception! Painful pasts, angst, and tons of inner conflict fuel this m/m romance and kept me glued to the pages as each heartache made my own heart ache.

Alexander “Boomer” Smith grew up in a religious cult where his feelings for men were seen as a sin.  For 18 years he tried to conform to the cult's beliefs, tried to be the way others were, but in a single moment everything came crashing down through an act of betrayal that left him forever bruised.  A stint in the Marines didn't change his views of himself either.  He eventually found himself becoming a member of the Cerberus MC, finding a sense of acceptance from others though not acceptance from himself.  Years of judgements, years of condemnation, have made him closed-off and untrusting of others. The depiction of his upbringing broke my heart as it forever changed the man he could've been, left him a stoic and serious-minded shell.  When readers first meet Boomer they see a man broken down by a life full of judgments but with each turn of the page, and a life-altering connection to bartender Drake, Boomer undertakes a slow but steady journey of inner growth that warms my heart.

Drake Hill seems the exact opposite to Boomer, a young man full of joy and living life to the fullest.  He had his own childhood issues though, ones he was able to work through and who will become a beacon of acceptance and support for Boomer as their journey progresses.  Drake's interacted with the Cerberus brothers for years, flirtatiously interacted with them, but he's always had eyes for only Boomer.  Getting Boomer's attention though won't be easy as Boomer's racked with self-doubt and teeming with trust issues that the immensely appealing Drake will have to work through.  Drake's a delicious hero, one with a bubbly attitude that is just who and what Boomer needs in a crackling connection that captivated me.

Boomer's an immensely satisfying read with a main couple who were supportive of each other while burning up the pages in a contemporary tale of overcoming the past and becoming who you're meant to be.  Boomer and Drake seemed like opposites early on but with slightly similar childhoods they formed a bond of both the heart and soul that had me cheering them on every step of the way.  The action flowed nicely while matters of the heart pulled at my emotional strings to keep me fully invested in this story.  With its unforgettable main couple, and equally supportive cast of secondary characters, this story was an epic one!  And with an ending that left my heart pounding, setting up Ugly's story flawlessly, I'm now counting down the days until the next installment in this series hits bookshelves!

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of sports-fueled romances I found much to love about this book!  From the first page to the last I was captivated by these characters and their angsty journey to HEA that Ms. Dyer dealt with head-on.  My heart broke a time or two for all that the hero went through while my heart was rebuilt through Jesse and Jerrica's sweet and steamy encounters.

Jesse Sullivan’s the Team Captain for the Athletics and a man who likes to be in control...of both his professional and personal life.  His childhood was filled with pain and trauma and is something that he deals with still today through therapy.  He doesn't do relationships as he thinks himself incapable of intimacy which makes him fodder for gossip regarding his personal life.  He's a man who likes his privacy, but when he loses his driver's license he finds himself needing the help of, and growing closer to, the one person he's been trying to stay away from...his best friend/teammate's younger sister, Jerrica.  Jesse is a perfectly imperfect hero, one who's kind with a hidden heart of gold. He's sweet, sexy, with a naughty side that reeled me in completely.  He's a delicious hero who unexpectedly finds a healing balm in his burgeoning connection to Jerrica and I found their journey to HEA a heartwarming one teeming with sexual tension.

When readers first see Jerrica Morris she's at a turning point in her life, not quite sure where she's going next.  To give her time to think she moves in with her brother Nate which puts her directly in his teammate Jesse's path.  She's an utterly delightful heroine, a bright and cheery breath of fresh air to Jesse's dark moments.  She's kind, funny, and independent and I admired her being the one to first address her feelings for Jesse.  Though he gently pushed her away she never gave up on him.  For years she's felt an attraction to him, one he's denied them both as they undertook a sensual game of keep-away.  When he needs a driver after losing his license though, she's the one who comes to his rescue, which leads to a burgeoning romance where past hurts and current desires are revealed.  They grow closer throughout her six months of chauffeuring and while they seem like opposites at first they actually find commonalities and unwavering support in each other.  With Jerrica, Jesse found exactly what he needed in a connection that he wasn't even looking for.  She never pushed him for more than he could give, but was always there by his side in a crackling connection that held me captive.  Even when they weren't together he knew he could reach out and his little ray of sunshine would be there!

On a whole theirs is a romance that played with my emotions, left me a bit raw, and warmed my heart with joy while making me blush a time or two…or more…heh heh!  The heroine is strong and supportive, full of life and a positive outlook.  The hero is flawed, but that makes me like him all the more.  He knows he has demons from his childhood and isn't ashamed to deal with them through therapy.  The issues he's dealing with are realistically and respectfully depicted by Ms. Dyer, which I applaud her for.  The dichotomy of his kind and caring nature balanced with his naughty nature in the bedroom kept me glued to the pages and made for many erotically-charged scenes in the latter part of the book.  Not only did the connection between Jesse and Jerrica crackle, but so too did the banter between Jesse and his teammates…particularly Nate. Their scenes were witty with brotherly banter that made them feel like a family...the kind of family that Jesse longs for.  With each turn of the page I fell in love with Jesse more and more, my perfectly imperfect hero!  I fell in love with him and other readers will too in this immensely satisfying addition to the Manchester Athletic series!

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of MC-themed books I was quickly captivated by this book from the very first page to the last courtesy of the gritty, steamy, and heartbreaking journey of Nicholas (Chains) from his childhood spent in foster care until now.  In a story that flashes back in time to present-day, readers get to see the traumatic experiences of his youth that made him the man he is today and the negative feelings he has about himself because of all he had to do to survive.  Moments of blood and rage are balanced with the moments of the escapism he lets himself have with the only two bright spots of his youth...Jackson and Winnie.  These two shared the nightmares of foster care with Nicholas, gave him a reason to keep living, and throughout the years they've evolved from a trio of friends to a triad.  They're the only thing keeping Chains sane, keeping him from getting lost in the darkness living in him, but his fears of how others would view him have him keeping them his dirty little secret.

Slowly though Chains' past is catching up to him.  When someone from his past starts waging a war of revenge that starts with a revealing of truths to kidnapping him to reap their revenge on in person, things turn particularly dark.  Chains might have always felt unworthy of love but it quickly becomes obvious how many people care about him as every brother in the Grimm Wolves MC, along with Jackson and Winnie, rush to find him before he's completely lost to the darkness.  With Chains' kidnapping the story becomes a dark, raw, and twisting tale that will have readers trying to figure out whodunit while on the edge of their seats fearing for Chains.  Jackson (lawyer to the MC) and Winnie are equally on edge as they try to remember their own past along with what Chains did throughout their time apart from him.  The fear they feel is palpable, as is their love for him and all he did to keep them safe and cared for.  The MC is also desperate to find him while trying to keep their Club safe from this dangerous and twisted enemy.

This was a fast-paced read, one that actually had my heart racing at times.  Chains is a complex character, one who did a lot of unsavory things to survive, but he also has a loving heart hiding behind all that blood and rage.  My heart broke for all that he endured in life and it sometimes made it difficult to read.  Instead of seeing his past as a reason why he's UNdeserving of love and happiness, I’m rooting for him to accept that BECAUSE of his painful past he DESERVES a HEA.  Now he just needs to make it out alive for true healing to begin.  Throughout this story readers get a few erotic interludes as we see the strong bond this triad has, see their love and unwavering support for each other.  Readers also get to see the other brothers in the MC, see their playful interactions, as well as the determined protection they give one another.  The brothers are an engaging group, one who I look forward to seeing more of with the next installment in this series.  On a whole this is a darn near perfect book that I highly recommend and I'm now left breathlessly awaiting what happens next!
