MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of sports-fueled romances this book captivated me from the very start with its crackling connection between a slightly older woman and the younger man who's the brother of her best friend.  From the moment these two met there was a very obvious connection that was both steamy and sensual, growing stronger the more they saw each other openly and honestly.  Living together shows them without any facades and as they fell for each other, I fell for them too in a romance that put a smile on my face.

Ben is the proverbial football god with guys wanting to be him and gals just plain wanting him!  A moment of bad behavior though leads to his suspension from the team and no place to live.  His sister luckily has the perfect idea for his housing dilemma...and that's when everything changes for him.  Ben's a decadently delightful hero, sexy and sweet...with a longtime crush on his new roommate that he's just now ready to do something about.  He's charming, witty, and the banter between him and Violet was everything to me!  He charmingly worked his way into Violet's heart, cooking and cleaning, reading romance novels, and showing a mature and endearing side of himself to her.  With each turn of the page I fell more and more in love with him and was cheering him on in his claiming of Violet.

Violet's the kind of heroine you can relate to and the connection between her and Ben practically jumped off the page courtesy of witty banter and undeniable chemistry.  She's fresh off a break-up but is leery of putting her heart on the line once again, especially with someone who's seen as a playa.  She continues to see Ben as immature, but behind the facade is a determined man who's the perfect match to Violet...if she just takes a chance on Ben.

This was a quick read, one full of steam and sparkling banter that amped up the sensuality.  Ben's the quintessential book boyfriend, making me smile and blush, along with warming my heart.  Violet's a good match...and I was particularly proud of her when she proved herself worthy of Ben at the end of the story.  Along with a delightful main couple was an equally entertaining cast of secondary characters who leant an air of family and familiarity to this book, giving a sense of family to the story. From start to finish I found this an immensely satisfying tale, one that gave me an afternoon of delights that I wholeheartedly recommend to others!

My rating for this is an A-

Book Release Blast for Falling For the Rookie by Carina Rose (REVIEW)……..

Fans of sports romances will have even more reasons to rejoice as a star player finds an unexpected connection to his team's new female kicker.  With her being his sister's friend, and his new roommate, things soon take a sensual turn that complicates everything.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Falling For the Rookie by Carina Rose, along with my impressions of it, then add this fourth installment in the Never Say Never series to your bookshelf too!

People rarely catch me off guard. I’m Collin St. James, after all, starting wide receiver for the Virginia Thunder, and playing football has kept me on my toes. But nothing could have prepared me to mentor our newest teammate, kicker Charlie Nicholson.
I wasn’t caught off guard because I had to take someone under my wing, or because Charlie was easily banging sixty-yard kicks through the uprights. It happened when the rookie’s silver helmet came off and long blonde hair spilled out. Completely baffled, I edged closer and took in the prettiest blue eyes I’d ever seen.
Charlie wasn’t only a complete knockout, she was also my younger sister’s closest friend, and when she smiled at me, I knew right then and there I was in serious trouble.
The last thing I needed was a distraction, but thanks to my gorgeous new teammate—and, to my surprise, my roommate—that was exactly what I got.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

From the moment I picked up this book I was utterly charmed...charmed by the connection between these two teammates (and roommates) and their slow-burn journey to HEA.  The storyline was just different enough to help this book standout in the crowded genre of sports romances which had me inhaling each turn of the page while reveling in the burgeoning romance between Collin St. James and Charlie Nicholson.  Add in the other players of the Virginia Thunder football team, with their sense of family and brotherly byplay, and readers will find a story that will put a smile on their face while warming their heart.

Collin St. James is a star on the football field, one who oozes confidence in himself but who is supportive of his teammates and friends too.  He's sweet, caring, and won my heart from the get-go.  Collin's not the kind of guy to have women trouble, but Charlie presents him with all sorts of problems...ever since he met her as a nerdy young girl who was the best friend of his sister.  He could see the crush she had on him and kept her at arm's length throughout the years out of respect for his sister.  Things have changed a lot since she was young though and becoming Collin's roommate makes it even more difficult to continue keeping her at arm's length in their sweet and sensual romance.

Charlie's an immensely appealing heroine, one with a lot on her plate as she strives for a successful future.  Charlie started off as a soccer player but her talent has led her to the football field where Collin is her mentor...and her continuing temptation.  She's focused on her kicking, knowing how much is riding on her being the first female kicker in football, but Collin's a delightful distraction.  From the moment they met years ago, until now, they've been dancing around the truth of what their hearts want...and with each turn of the page they get ever closer to what they both want.

Readers will fall for this unique tale, fall for the sweet yet sizzling connection between these two very likable characters, and not at all ready to reach the end of this captivating romance.  Thankfully, the secondary characters give me hope for yet another delightful tale from Ms. Rose which has me already waiting with bated breath!

My rating for this is an A-

Book Review for Controlled Chaos by Nikki Ash……

Camden
I’ve been in love with my best friend since high school.
My biggest regret? Walking away without telling her.
I planned to. But then catastrophe struck, making us part ways without a word.
She left for Boston with her fiancé, while I left for L.A. with my band–Raging Chaos.
For the next five years, I lived and breathed music, trying to forget the beautiful girl who shattered my heart without even knowing it.
Until I see her again…
I walked away once, and I've learned my lesson.
Layla is my forever, not another item in my pile of regrets.
And she's about to find that out.
Layla
The moment I saw Camden on stage, something inside me came to life.
His tragic song of unrequited love was a confession that had me questioning everything.
Five years might’ve changed who we are—he’s a rock star and I’m a single mom—but my feelings for him are as strong as ever.
His lyrics make falling in love seem easy. For him—maybe it is.
Only I’ve learned the hard way that real life isn’t as simple as writing a love song.

BUY AT AMAZON here.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Wow!  What an emotionally draining read this was...but in a good way!  My love of rockstar romances continues with this first installment in the Love & Lyrics series and with each turn of the page I look forward to what comes next while gobbling this one up as an unrequited love finds its HEA.

Camden and Layla met as teens, becoming neighbors and best friends, but for Camden there was more as he fell completely in love with Layla.  Her having a boyfriend, and fear over ruining a beautiful friendship, kept him from admitting the truth though.  Add in another tragedy and before long these two went their separate ways towards their next stages of life...all without the truth of his feelings coming out.  Camden went on to fame and fortune as a rockstar while she went to college, got married, and became mom to the adorable Felix.  While Camden seemed to be living his best life there was always something missing, words and lyrics that constantly poured out of him declaring his unrequited love for Layla.  When fate brings them back together he makes the most of their second chance but it's a bumpy journey as Layla's been bruised and battered by the life she chose.  This leads to a slow and steady reunion that had me fall more and more in love with Camden because of his patience, his sweet and sexy nature, and his endearing interactions with Felix (a definite bright spot in the story) that made this such a richly rewarding romance.

Camden's a delicious hero, a rockstar who (surprisingly) hasn't let fame go to his head. He's been patiently waiting for Layla and once they're reunited he continues to be patient with her, protective and loving, and everything you want your book boyfriend to be!  Layla's life definitely didn't go as she hoped it would, married to an abusive man who becomes increasingly violent before one final act has her finally starting over without him.  Through it all Layla's a strong-willed heroine whose abusive marriage was depicted realistically and reading of her hurts hurt me too.  The scenes depicted were gritty and heartbreaking and it had me rooting for her to start anew.  There was a feeling of joy once Layla and Camden found their way back to each other, a feeling of rightness, that warmed my heart and brought a tear to my eye.  Surrounding this newfound family in the making are the rest of the members of Raging Chaos, young men with lots of baggage weighing them down as they've let fame consume them.  The time spent with Braxton, Declan, and Gage has left me dying for more from these perfectly imperfect rockstars and it's with breathless anticipation that I'm counting down the days until the next installment in Ms. Ash's angsty series!

My rating for this is an A.

Book Tour for Skate Cute by Melissa J. Roche (Guest Post & GIVEAWAY)……

A young woman who couldn't wait to leave her small town is back, attracting the attention of the boy who once loved her from afar, along with someone looking to harm her in this delightful contemporary romance.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Skate Cute by Melissa J. Roche, hear from the author about small town romances, then learn even more about this book by visiting the other sites hosting this tour.  In honor of this charming romance make sure to fill out the form below for the chance to win a digital copy of this book and a $25 bookstore GC too!

Words of Wisdom from Ms. Roche talking about why she thinks readers are drawn to small town romances.....
Great question! I’d better start with a disclaimer: I currently live in a small town, one that I happen to have fallen in love with. I love the big trees lining the roads in Old Town; I love the local, women-owned bookstore coffee shop across the street from the homemade children’s museum; I love the splash pad with the ice cream shop hovering nearby. And more than that, I love that whenever I visit all of the above, I inevitably run into people that I know.
It’s the people that make the small town, and thus it’s the characters that make a good small town romance. Small towns grow quirky characters like beans in a backyard garden. Writers love to write (and readers love to read) these characters, to watch them come alive with a simple touch of imagination. And small towns tend to mix and mingle everybody together in the most charming ways: senior pickleball tournaments on Saturdays, karaoke nights at the diner downtown, oatmeal festivals and peach festivals and Gus Macker festivals and tulip festivals...
Then there’s the appeal to the five senses. We love to read small town romances because we’ve all been to or through small towns, and we can almost feel, taste, and see the story unfold against our senses. You can see the grizzled regulars huddled at their table in the back of the diner; you can hear the drawl of conversation that knows it doesn’t have to hurry; you can smell the sun on grassy fields that never were or will be parking lots. It doesn’t matter if you’ve put down roots or just passed through, we all can relate to the appeal of small towns to the five senses.
The last reason I love small town romances? Series potential. Of course I’m going to read the next book in the series if it promises to highlight those two firecracker side characters with the sizzling love-to-hate-you relationship I couldn’t get enough of in the first. And of course the next book in my Sacreola Sweethearts series stars Chase’s mom Angie, the single, 50-something, romance author who falls for Ben, the widowed, 50-something owner of the bookstore coffee shop where she loves to sit and write her novels. Small town characters tend to leap off the pages, larger than life, teasing me with more story to tell. Who am I to say no?

Kriss heads home to her small prairie town with 98% of an astrophysics PhD, a load of memories she’d rather not think about, and a survival plan: skate and graduate. Her plan doesn’t include the attention of a familiar admirer from the nearby fire station, one with an impressive physique, a hidden singing talent, and a smile dazzling enough to sweep her off her skates. Before she knows it, she’s falling for him—hard.
Chase has settled into the rhythms of his small-town firefighter routine, but he remembers Kriss from high school: the starry-eyed skater girl on her way out the door of his life. Now she’s back, just as gorgeous as ever, spinning around the next-door rink without a care in the world. Or so he thinks, until Kriss is targeted with mysterious acts of vandalism designed to derail her dreams. Can he help Kriss find the courage to stand up under the attacks and trust herself to love again?

EXCERPT:

The door on the south side of the rink banged against the wall, the noise jerking Kriss out of her emotional puddle. Her eyes flung open and her body surged upward, her head jerking toward the sound and the intruder. Crap, someone from the skate park must have thought the rink was empty and come over to goof off—
But it wasn’t a skater. It was a dude in jogging shorts and a dark navy-blue T-shirt with a fire department logo on the front, one earbud dangling against his collar.
Kriss met his wide eyes for exactly one shocked microsecond before dropping her head in embarrassment.
“Oh...I’m sorry,” he mumbled. “I thought you were...Um. Are you okay?”
She nodded, hastily swiping at her cheeks. But it was too late; he had to have seen the tears already. “Sorry, no, I’m fine. I just...felt like lying down.”
She stole another quick glance at him. He was nodding sheepishly, his arm raised to scratch awkwardly at the back of his neck. A detached corner of her mind noted that his face looked familiar from somewhere. Another very, very detached corner of her mind noted the way his T-shirt stretched over his upper arms with the motion.
“Well, um, glad you’re okay,” he said, his chest bouncing with a hasty chuckle. His voice wasn’t what she was expecting. It was deep, but not too deep, and definitely more...smooth, or something. Maybe resonant was the right word.

BUY here.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of friends-to-lovers romances I've certainly read my fair share of them.  With this series starter Ms. Silver has added an entertaining story to the genre, crafted a charming tale with a truly likable main couple that you're drawn to from the very start. Add in supportive teammates, and their playful brotherly banter, and you have a story that promises lots of delights on the horizon.  While much of this story is familiar, I still found myself turning the pages with a smile on my face and a heart full of warm fuzzies that have me recommending it to one and all.

Tenley and Jackson have been a part of each other's lives since they were kids.  Each still living in the same city and living the life they envisioned for themselves, happy and successful.  For Jackson, it's been years of reliable friendship with the girl next door, always knowing she's there when he needs her.  But for Tenley, it's been years of unrequited love, since a party and a secret kiss turned her feelings more romantic. They're feelings she'll never admit to though...but they're bubbling below the surface. And when Tenley comes to Jackson's aid after he's injured, the feelings explode in a slow-burn journey to being more than just friends.  It's a journey that was sweet and sensual, a bit bumpy later on because of Jackson's dramatic doubts, but a journey that showed Tenley to be a caring heroine with vulnerabilities while showing Jackson that he needs more than just football in his life.  They're a couple that was always meant to be!

On a whole this was a quick read with only a small speed bump to keep readers from the satisfying HEA.  Tenley's a likable heroine, one who's devoted to being a teacher and to being there for Jackson.  Jackson too is a drool-worthy hero, laser-focused on playing football, but oh so charming once his heart realizes how much he needs Tenley by his side.  Along with watching friends become lovers in a sensual journey, I enjoyed seeing other members of the Denver Mountain Lions and the brotherly banter and support they offer each other.  The glimpses we got of these players intrigued me and has me excited to learn more about each of them as the series progresses.

My rating for this is an A-

Unrequited young love is finally given a chance to flourish when an actress returns to her hometown to find the young man who once had a crush on her, a man ready to claim her with the unsuspecting help of his daughter.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Small Town Prince Charming by Megan Slayer, discover even more about this book by visiting the other sites hosting this tour, then add this contemporary romance to your bookshelf.  In honor of this charming tale of second chances make sure to fill out the form below for the chance to win a prize pack of a bracelet and necklace handmade by the author too!

Can a high school romance that never happened have a second life in a small town?
Tracey Baker got out of Blakes Creek to find her purpose in life. She found it in the theatre scene in New York, but after ten years, she’s ready for a change. Working for the community theatre in her hometown is just what she needs—until she sees Ryan Greene.
Ryan Greene crushed on Tracey Baker in school, but he never thought she’d come back to Blakes Creek. When he sees her at the theatre, he’s determined to win her heart. His daughter Maisey is just as determined. She likes Tracey and sets out to prove her dad is Tracey’s Prince Charming.
Love might conquer all, but with the eyes and ears of the town focused on their relationship, Ryan and Tracey will have to prove they can set the stage alight together.

EXCERPT:

“Ryan?” Tracey held a clipboard and one of the glittery chorus girl dresses. “Do you have a second?”
“I do.” He’d rather run. “How are you?”
“I’m good. Busy. You seem busy, too.” She smiled. “You’re doing well with the sets. I can’t wait to see them in action.”
“Thanks.” Was he blushing? The tips of his ears burned. “The costumes looked good. I haven’t seen them all, but I bet they’re great.”
“Oh, they’re not done yet. I still have to get everyone fitted properly and figure out where to add more glitz like Derek wants.” She fiddled with the garment in her hands. “I wanted to talk to you about Maisey.”
“What did she do?” He steeled himself for her answer. Maisey could tell tales and made things seem worse than reality. She craved attention, too.
“It’s not anything she did.” Tracey left the stage and strode out to the audience. “Here. This is less invasive. No, it’s what happened.”

“What happened? Did she try to set us up? She thinks I need another wife.” Shit. He shouldn’t have said that. “Sorry.”
Tracey paled. “Another? How many have you had?”
“One. Carol. It didn’t work out.” He shook his head. “Honestly, I’m not looking to date anyone.” He could be convinced if the right woman asked him on a date—like Tracey.
“Uh...she didn’t say anything about a date or a wife.” Tracey fumbled with the dress and perched on one of the seatbacks. “No, she was wearing another girl’s costume because the other girl wanted Maisey to be able to dance in the performance.”
He wobbled onto the seatback one aisle behind hers. “Come again? Maisey did what?”
“Maisey wants to dance, and she’s in the class showing she can do it. One of the girls, a friend, gave her the wrong costume—the friend’s—so Maisey wouldn’t have to pay for it and could participate. I asked Maisey, and she said her dad couldn’t afford for her to dance.”
He had to be honest, but he hated the embarrassment. “I work two jobs, and I don’t have the time or money for dance. I barely keep us fed.” He tried to hide his shame. Tracey didn’t need to see him upset. If he hadn’t been saddled with Jessica’s debts, he’d be better off.
“Do you mind if she takes part in the recital?” Tracey asked. “I saw her practice with the other girls, and she’s good. She deserves to dance. She’ll have a costume, if you’ll let her, since I took her measurements. Actually, she’s already got one.”
“How much?” He’d have to shuffle a few things to find the money, but he had to give Maisey this.
“Nothing.”
