If you mention to people something about an erotic book, they might giggle, blush, or hold their nose in the air and sniff. It's rare that someone will admit to reading erotica, but many folks are buying naughty stories. What's more is that readers can't seem to get enough of it.
So why are more and more people drawn to erotica? Here are six reasons why readers love it....
1. Readers want to escape from the mundane. And that fantasy isn't only about the mind-blowing sex. It's the gorgeous or dark settings, the salacious characters, and the seduction. The build-up is as important as the climax.
2. The emotional highs. Not all erotica involves a love story, but no matter if there's romance or not, there are a lot of emotions involved in the heat of the moment. Maybe the heroine feels guilty or shy, and then as it goes on, she explodes with confidence and joy.
3. It's a safe way to explore something new. Perhaps you've developed an interest in bondage. Reading BDSM themed erotica will give you a peek into the world of whips and chains. You can discover what arouses you before you go out and buy a set of manacles.
4. The gorgeous, lusty hero and the smoking hot heroine. No matter how sizzling the sex is, if readers don't drool over the characters, then there's a problem. It's isn't only about their appearances, but how they act as well. Who doesn't love a man who will do anything to pleasure his lover or a woman who isn't afraid to stand up and demand sexual satisfaction? We love their strengths and sympathize with their weaknesses.
5. The physical high. You know what I mean. After reading a really amazing sex scene, you're hot and tingly. The endorphins running through your body make you feel really good.
6. The incredible sex. (You knew it was coming!) If we just wanted to read a good story, there are others books without explicit material. But we want the juicy details of the sweet love-making or down and dirty romp. All the right words that lead up to a mental orgasm.
If you boldly declare you read erotica or if it's your dirty, little secret, we all want to be naughty. Even if it's just for a few minutes a day.
Utterly charmed, Morgan decides to roll the dice and indulge in a fantasy-worthy weekend of sexy roleplaying, scorching sex and life-altering orgasms. Still, through it all Morgan is too smart to believe the chemistry constantly stripping her of costumes and control can last more than the length of the convention. But if she wants to keep a relationship so intense she thought it only existed in fiction, she’s going to have to let go of her cool-headed logic and allow herself to fall far and fast for the perfect guy.
EXCERPT:
Geek girl problem #77: When things are going your way, you always suspect a boss fight around the next corner.
Stomping out of the bathroom, I froze upon seeing Russell standing in the alcove between the drinking fountains across from me. Dressed as Snidely Whiplash, he had the perfect sneer for the character.
“Come to kidnap me and tie me to the train tracks?” I folded my arms and stepped out of the way of a group of girls going into the bathroom.
“Don’t tempt me. It would save us all a lot of trouble.” Russell’s sharp and bitter tone carried a phantom slap.
I hesitated, weighing the situation. He obviously didn’t like me, but why? I hadn’t felt such hate when we first met, no matter that we were playing enemies. Did something so horrible happen between him and Emily, he was taking it out on me? But why did it feel more personal than that?
“Okay.” I took in a deep, slow breath and let it out. “Clearly you wanted to talk to me since you’re waiting here. What did you want to say?”
“End this thing between you and Dean now. Today at least. Don’t drag it out. You’ll only cause more damage if you do.”
Not what I expected in the least. What did he have against me and Dean? Did he not think I was good enough for his cousin?
“What’s between Dean and I is our own business.” There. A mature and reasonable reply. I wasn’t going to resort to growling back at him.
“And what is between you, hm?” Russell raised his comical eyebrows. It looked silly and somehow foreboding. “Girlfriend and boyfriend? Or just a con fling?”

For sturdy-sized gal Morgan she's expecting a weekend of cosplay, gaming, and getting to know those she's only spent time with online. It's her and her friend Emily embracing their time at the Con by bringing their gamer life into the real world. When Morgan meets fellow game player Dean though the real world takes precedent as he sweeps the cynical woman off her feet using his sexiness, charm, and humor. Morgan is a bit serious, very down to earth, and a bit cynical when it comes to love. Each chapter heading in fact reflects her cynicism in regards to her looks and love and actually brought a smile to my face. Her cynicism has her doubting Dean's true feelings and looking for trouble where there is none, almost blowing up their relationship before it starts. She's an imperfect heroine but endearing in her outlook on life and with her time with Dean bringing out a carefree and empowered side I was rooting for their HEA every step of the way.
While Morgan is the star of this story Dean makes it equally entertaining. Though we don't get to know him near as well we do see a charming and romantic man, gentlemanly in some ways but with a sexually intense side too. The two of them are combustible together with the majority of their time together spent steamily entangled with one another. We get a brief glimpse of Emily unexpectedly finding love and jumping into a new life wholeheartedly with a man who at first appears to take his role as villain too far before being won over by love. This part of the story was distracting though and showed Emily as a rather shrewish friend. It did ultimately serve in helping Morgan and Dean reach their HEA in an ending that was a bit rushed and too easily settled.
This was a fun and flirty romp and a decadently delightful start to the Dice & Debauchery series. It was a quick read with a few twists and turns that took readers on a steamy journey to HEA. Ms. Rains crafted a cute yet sexy read chock full of pop culture references that will delight sci-fi fans with dialogue that was witty and that pulled readers in completely to the world of geeks. It's an entertaining world that I look forward to revisiting soon!
