Trouble.
One word that comes to mind when someone talks about me. I like to think of it as protection, watching out for the ones I love. But now I’m spending more time in the penalty box than on the ice and the team owner isn’t happy.
Finding myself across the room from the hot therapist I kissed on New Year’s Eve only makes me push my problems down further. I want couch time with her but not the kind she’s used to.
I decide to lie to her just to finish off my therapy so I can do what I really want—date her—even if she says she doesn’t date hockey players. Just when my therapy sessions are up and I’ve made some headway with Paisley, it’s my parents who throw another wrench in my plans.
If I abide by my parent’s wishes to marry the one they’ve chosen, I’ll lose Paisley forever. But if I go against my parents, I’m failing my deceased best friend all over again.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of sports romances I was immediately drawn to the sexy yet brash hockey player found in this story and entertained by his opposites attract romance with a therapist.  Add in a bit of family intervention and you end up with a familiar, sweet, and sizzling tale full of sexual tension.

Maksim Petrov is a madman on the ice, protecting his teammates no matter the penalty to himself.  When the penalties for his aggression on the ice overtake his talent though he's forced into spending time on a therapist's couch, a couch he starts to look forward to spending time on as his therapist is the sexy woman he had a New Year's Eve kiss with.  While any relationship while they're patient/client is a no-no, once his time on the couch is over he wants her in his bed....and on the table...and wherever else he can get her.  Maksim's a drool-worthy hero who's not all that he seems.  His anger belies a strong protective side, one fueled by a past that brought a tear to my eye.  He's a loving and caring man, a charming and brash man too, determined to win over Paisley as seen through dates that he came up with himself that utterly charmed me.  Paisley's a more reserved person, more methodical, when it comes to relationships.  She's a kind person too with her own past that has her leery of what Maksim's offering.  She desperately wants to remain independent though, a need fueled by others, which further hangs over her burgeoning relationship with the sweet and sexy hockey player.

On a whole this was a fun and flirty read, one with a likable main couple and an endearing journey to HEA.  Maksim and Paisley seemed like opposites on many levels, but they just fit perfectly together in a connection that made me laugh while putting a smile on my face.  Alongside this appealing main couple were the other members of the Florida Fury, particularly Aiden and Ford.  I loved seeing the friendship between these three grow and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more playful banter from them in the future!

My rating for this is a B+
