Review for Omegas in Love by Annie Nicholas

Some things are best to forget. But what if the past won't be forgotten?

Born in China of a pure shifter bloodline, Katrina was raised with only one purpose--to breed. Abused by her alpha, she runs away to America as soon as she can. With a new pack and her true mate, she thinks the nightmare is behind her, but when she is abducted on the streets of Chinatown, Katrina must face her past and fight for her freedom.

It took Tyler a year to earn Katrina's love, another to build her confidence and pride, and only a moment to lose her. Broken-hearted, Tyler won't give up his search for Katrina.

But he never trained as a warrior like the other shifters. What chance does a real estate agent have in the fight for his mate?

********************

A lot happens in this short story that makes an intriguing addition to the Vanguards series.  A favorite character's life is hanging in the balance as a major life decision is debated as well as the continuing mystery surrounding the attempted assassination of another beloved character.  With all these cliffhangers I'm now waiting on pins and needles for the next book in this series!

There's also a wonderful little romance going on amongst all the action for Katrina who's still carrying around memories of the physical and mental abuse endured during her time with her former pack and the perfect man for her, Tyler.  Katrina's finally starting to heal through the love and attention of Tyler, but still has some secrets that could get her killed, when she's abducted and re-enters her nightmare.  I ached for Katrina and seeing her immediately revert back into her shell of fear.  Her old pack is truly barbaric and their treatment of women made me want to punch each one of them.  Seeing her gain back her courage when it was needed most showed the true power of love.

Tyler is definitely a male of worth even if he doubts it himself.  He's admittedly not the most manly man and chooses not to fight but when it comes to the love of his life he ended up being a true hero and I totally wanted to hug him.  He and Katrina are perfect together and their sexual interludes were a wonderfully steamy addition to the story.

This was a nicely paced story that balanced the action scenes and emotional highs and lows beautifully.  Not having read all of the previous books in this series didn't at all interfere in my enjoyment of this story.  I was immediately caught up in the lives of these characters and hated how quickly the end of the story arrived.  This story leaves some big questions unanswered and I look forward to seeing the outcome in Ms. Nicholas' next release.

My rating for this is a B+

*I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.
