They say that good things come in small packages and that’s definitely the case here with this heartwarming yet heartbreaking novella. Though the word count is small it packs a wallop of emotions that had me smiling, while charming me, before ultimately bringing me to tears. With this prequel, readers get an unforgettable introduction to the members of the up and coming band the Hysterics, seeing the emotional groundwork laid that affects their HEAs years later.
Readers get to witness the early joy of Maverick Steele as he meets the young woman who will be the driving force in his becoming a rockstar. We learn of his plans for a picture perfect future that changes in the blink of an eye, changing him from a young man with an open heart to a man unwilling to embrace love ever again. Beside him, through his heartbreak, is his best friend and bandmate Dane and I was drawn to their tight bond and love for one another. More than friends, more than bandmates, they’re clearly brothers who support each other after a tragedy that dimmed their outlook on life.
