Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Officially Over It by Lani Lynn Vale, along with getting my impressions of it, then add this tenth installment in the SWAT Generation 2.0 series to your bookshelf!
Going from a professional baseball player to a SWAT officer should’ve been seamless. Should have been.
But it wasn’t.
All it took was one single calendar shoot for word to spread that Nathan Cox was not only no longer playing professional baseball, but he was also the man behind saving the life of Reggie Morton, the City of Kilgore’s princess.
***
Reggie didn’t know that by agreeing to provide the expertise and the know-how for the Police Officer’s Ball that she would be required to actually attend the function.
What she also didn’t expect was needing to be saved—again—by the same man that had saved her life a year ago when she hosted her debut event.
This time in a not-nearly-as-spectacular way. The moment she falls into his arms like a modern-day Cinderella and takes him in in all his three-piece suited glory, she realizes that she’s been fighting the impossible.
Nathan Cox owns her. Body and soul.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
There's something comforting about reading a Lani Lynn Vale book, something about the emotions that pull at your heartstrings, and the all-around feeling of family that these books engender in me. This latest release is another immensely satisfying read, one that has lifelong frenemies becoming something more, in a journey that sometimes frustrated me while putting a smile on my face through their witty banter and scorching interactions. Add in glimpses of characters we've seen before, and come to love like family, and I found myself wrapped up in a warm glow of satisfaction that has me longing for the next book from this reliably entertaining author!
Nathan and Reggie grew up with a combustible connection that had them constantly trying to outdo the other, but they were also there for each other whenever they needed support most. Theirs was a connection full of push and pulls, a connection that sometimes turned sensual when they were willing to admit it to themselves, and it's these moments of unspoken truths that led to their time apart. They're back in each other's lives now though, living in the same town, with the sizzle between them just as potent as ever. There's also a secret that binds them together which comes to the forefront as each new twist and turn is revealed. This time around however they're not going to keep their feelings hidden in a journey to HEA that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Nathan's a delicious hero, not who he at first seems to be. He's someone who doesn't like the limelight and is quite content working in a small town. He's all male, strong yet silent, but with a softer side that I felt privileged to see. Reggie's a great match for him...sweet, sassy, with a strong sense of loyalty. She's the kind of heroine you can see yourself being friends with and together they made for a formidable and crackling couple.
On a whole this was another winner from Ms. Vale, a story that packed one heckuva wallop courtesy of numerous twists and turns. The main couple were thoroughly entertaining with an unforgettable connection that encompassed years and I loved their exhilarating interactions. A lot was thrown at this couple throughout the story and it ultimately made them stronger as I was rooting for them every step of the way. Surrounding this likable main couple was an equally entertaining cast of secondary characters, the denizens of the town whose stories I've already enjoyed as well as characters whose stories are still to come. Of those characters, Malachi has me most intrigued and I'm now left counting down the days until his book arrives on shelves!
My rating for this is an A-
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
