Kent
Rogue. Troublemaker. Bad Boy. Delinquent.
Everyone thinks they know who I am, but they know nothing.
And that's how I prefer it.
Keeping my demons under lock and key is my only survival tactic.
Until a gorgeous feisty bartender enters my life, turning it upside down. Presley captivates me in a way no woman ever has, and I can’t get her out of my mind.
She’s determined to resist me, but I’m equally stubborn and more than up for the challenge. Winning her trust, and her heart, becomes everything because she shows me a future worth fighting for.
But the consequences of my tortured past are far-reaching, and if I don’t let her go, I'll only drag Presley down this dark hole with me.
Presley
Since I aged out of the foster system, I’ve worked hard for my dream future, and it’s so close. Too close to let some arrogant rich playboy distract me.
I’ve heard all about Kent Kennedy, and with my history of troubled bad boys, I need his attention like a hole in the head.
Except he’s nothing I expected and everything I never dared to dream of. As I slowly uncover the truth, I discover a broken man with a big heart who desperately needs someone to see him.
I want to be that person, but his demons loom large, and I don’t know if I’m strong enough to do this again. When the past rears its ugly head, shattering everything, will there be anything left of my heart to protect?

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Well readers, it all comes down to this!  The rollercoaster lives of The Kennedy Boys series comes to an end with this tenth installment that packs yet another emotional wallop as the youngest of the triplets finally gets the attention he deserves in this story of opposites attracting.  Add in dealing with a past riddled with pain and you end up with a hero who's been torturing himself through nine previous books, one who finally finds some healing and a richly rewarding HEA by the turn of the final page.

Kent Kennedy's always been seen as the black sheep of the family.  He's been labeled as reckless, self-destructive, quick to anger, and even quicker to drink and sleep away his pain through numerous one-night stands.  While starting college seems like a good time to start over, it's his meeting sexy and sassy bartender Presley that gives him an even bigger reason to change how he's been going through life.  From the moment readers first met Kent they saw someone very rough around the edges, someone with constant anger just bubbling beneath the surface.  He's brash, loud mouthed, and makes no apologies for how he lives his life.  The Kent seen here is ready to change, wanting to change as his attraction to Presley becomes more vital to him than breathing, and it has him wanting to become a better man for her.  She doesn't make it easy for him though as he undertakes a charming and heartwarming journey to win her over.  Through sweet words and endearing gifts he woos Presley one day at a time while revealing a softer side to his personality.  Along the way his past comes to the forefront in reveals that broke my heart and had me wanting to hug him.  His truths are painful, and explain a lot of why he's been the kind of person he's been, but Ms. Davis dealt with the pain in an honest and respectful way that many will be able to relate to.  His time with Presley isn't only romantic but it's healing too and as he falls harder for her he discovers he's also worthy of love in a powerful connection that felt like a weight finally being lifted off the battered and bruised Kent.

Presley is a wonderful heroine, a perfect match to Kent as she's strong-willed with a big and kind heart more than capable of helping him heal.  For most of her life she's only been able to count on herself, dealing with her own traumatic past with only a small group of friends she can call on.  Her life hasn't been all sunshine and flowers, but it's made her who she is today...just the woman Kent needs.  Theirs is a crackling connection from the moment they meet.  In a journey of hard truths and unexpected twists and turns comes a real romance full of heart and soul.  Through every tear, through every heartache, Presley loves with her whole heart and it's her lightness that shows Kent a way out of his darkness in an unforgettable romance.

Ms. Davis has crafted a near-flawless series of books featuring the Kennedy family with one delicious sibling after another taking center stage.  The books have been an emotional smorgasbord, dealing with heavy topics without sugar coating them, and each installment has left an indelible mark.  This series-ender is the perfect conclusion as it highlights the healing power of love and acceptance between two people held captive by their pasts.  Family too plays a big role and the family interactions seen here warmed my heart through their imperfect yet realistic interactions.  Readers looking for an immensely satisfying romance, a romance worth every painful emotion, will want to add The Kennedy Boys series to their bookshelf and discover each unforgettable character on their own from the very beginning!

My rating for this is an A.
