Music soothes Levon Blackfoot’s soul. He lives for the rush of the crowd and the high of performing, but something’s missing. The music he loves isn’t working. It’s time to make some changes.
Good thing it’s almost the New Year, the Haudeshaun. There’s no better a time to evaluate and pursue the woman he loves—Callie.Callie King has loved Levon since the moment they met, but a misunderstanding destroyed their relationship. If she can open her heart, they can have a second chance. She loves and needs him.
Maybe Haudeshaun is the perfect time to get what she wants—Levon.
Two broken people with a chance to start over at Haudeshaun—if they’re willing to try.
EXCERPT:
“Callie?” Levon tilted his head and half-smiled. “What is it about you that makes me want to forget this life and just be with you?”
“My animal magnetism?”
“Probably,” he murmured. “What did I do that made you hate me?”
“I don’t hate you.” She could be evasive when she wanted to—like right now.
He nodded. “Salina?”
She tensed and pressed her lips together. Salina had a lot to do with why she couldn’t be alone with him. “She’s part of it.”
“Cards on the table,” Levon said. “I never slept with her. Never wanted to. That night in Dallas, she followed me to my room. Said she wanted to meet Haven and I believed her. All she wanted was to bed one of us. Didn’t matter which.”
She’d heard this before.
“She told everyone we slept together because it gave her credibility,” he said. “But we didn’t. She saw your photo in my guitar case and knew there was no chance. She told me to pay her a grand and she’d forget ever being in my room. When I said no, she told everyone we slept together.”
Callie knew most of those details, too—all except the thing about the photo. “I saw you kiss her.” The memory had been imprinted on her mind and tore at her heart.
“You saw a misunderstanding and a woman who wanted to hurt you. She did that just to piss you off and it worked.” Levon held both of her hands. “I don’t know what you’re not telling me, but those are my truths. I love you, Callie Mae King. Have since we met.”

Book Tour for Sithe by Starla Night (REVIEW)……
It's an exhilarating thrill ride as a human and an alien find an unexpected connection in this sensual and suspenseful story set in space. Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Sithe by Starla Night, along with getting my impressions of it, then add this first installment in The Blades of Arris series to your bookshelf!
It’s a routine mission. Hunt down the ones who dared – dared – steal our sacred procreation metal from us, the rulers of the empire.
The Arrisans conquered Earth in a day. They smashed into our helpless planet like a wrecking ball, and overnight, everything changed.
That’s what our history books say.
The truth is, I’ve never seen an Arrisan face-to-face. But when my lone medical ship is attacked by ruthless pirates, the nightmare that hunts them down is no hero.
Cloaked in assassin’s gray, metal scythes fused to his wrist-bones, he is the grim reaper of the conquerors. The Arrisan elite special forces. A blade.
Luckily for me, he’s in a good mood now that he’s the last man standing in the blood-soaked ruins of my bridge, so he lets me live. After all, I’m just a lesser. Clearly I’m no threat.
Until his body starts reacting to mine...

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
As a fan of sci-fi stories I found myself drawn to this series starter and it’s steamy storyline of opposites attracting. With its vivid depiction of other worlds, sci-fi readers will find a colorful and erotically-charged storyline between the pages, a storyline fueled by these two characters and the changes they undergo.
Sithe is a rather closed-off character at the start. As part of a culture that values technologies, Sithe’s a closed-off assassin at the start, logical to a fault. He eschews emotions but is very physical when it comes to his encounters with Catarine, which leads to some scorching encounters as his body undergoes changes courtesy of his new-found proximity to her. Watching his cold exterior start to melt was entertaining to witness and added a decadently delightful layer to this story. Catarine’s a unique heroine herself as she has a disease that drives her to the nearest male…that male being Sithe. She has a disease that forces her to rely on her emotions rather than her mind which makes her an interesting counterpoint in this pairing, one that brings out a delightful other side to Sithe.
Theirs is a sizzling connection, one that plays out in the background of this storyline of action, suspense, and politics, a storyline that was never boring. It kept me glued to the pages, intrigued by the ramifications of the disease Catarine carries, along with the introduction of a slew of secondary characters who have me excited for future installments. These secondary characters ran the gamut of good, bad, and in-between, with each keeping me guessing and counting down the days until the next installment in this series hits bookshelves!
My rating for this is an A.
*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

EXCERPT:
Oh no.
I’ve gone too far this time.
Way, way too far.
The foot soldier replaces his hood and turns.
The man stands and twitches his gray suit, resettling it over his broad, all-too-human back, tapered waist, muscular quads and calves. The cowl has fallen back, revealing black hair and pallid skin, and he pads silently across the blood-soaked carpet on gray boots. The black lining his fingernails could just be polish, the spikes on the backs of his ears a quirk of biology.
But the molecule-thin blades nested like a chevron tattoo at his wrists prove he is the deadliest member of the conquering race. A foot soldier, known as a blade, from the conquerors of Arris.
Why, if the Arrisans have huge lasers that can devastate planets, do they arm and train their foot soldiers to win a war single-handedly? Old joke. Because every part of Arris is terrifying.
And I have just sexually assaulted him.
I have assaulted him in the ship’s theater where we used to spread blankets and eat popcorn and pretend we were still on Humana, in a big science experiment together, one that would be over soon.
He presses the communication button.
The movie screen activates, and another brutal, pallid Arrisan fills the half dome. He leers over me.
Terror jolts into my bones. I scramble around the back of the captain’s chair.
“Spiderwasp in,” he barks. “We acknowledge your priority call. Intercept in two clegs. Prepare for the majesty of the High Command’s newest flagship, blade. Spiderwasp out.”
The screens go blank, and the orange blood sprays become more visible.
As do the ribbons of flesh beneath my bare feet.
I am crouched in someone’s entrails.
Silence cuts my ears with its sharpness. The stench of burnt oxygen and sour waste pierces my nostrils. The world fractures around me like peering through broken glass. Too sharp, too real.
His face is barely profiled in the cloaking shadow of the assassin’s cowl. The suit moves like a normal cloak, but a sheen of black underneath deflects light like spilled oil. He flexes his fingers. The curved blades emerge a fraction from his wrists. He fixes on me.
No.
I scoot around the captain’s chair, trying to make myself small.
Please, no.
Oh, please—
“What did the Eruvisans do to you?”
His voice is toneless and quiet.
Like a serial killer.
I want to look away, but I can’t in case that’s how I miss when I die. “Nothing. Everything. I don’t remember.”
The shadows where his eyes should be widen slightly. He thinks I’m tricking him. Like I would even know how.

EXCERPT:
“You’re an odd vampire. Most every other one I’ve known wants me for dinner. Either you don’t because you’re weird or you’re lulling me into liking you so I’ll give in. If you are, you don’t have to make me like you. I’ll give in. I know the rules because you bought me. Remember?”
“Why don’t you shower and maybe get some sleep? I won’t kill or drain you.” He wanted her to trust him, but he didn’t want compliancy. Not yet and not outside of the bedroom. He liked her fire and the spunk he’d seen at the club.
“I don’t have much of a choice,” she said. “May I have this?”

“I don’t have much of a choice,” she said. “May I have this?”
“The wine? Of course.” He poured himself a glass of merlot. “Let’s drink to your freedom and new home.”
She stared at him, and he couldn’t read her expression. Wary? Confused? He wasn’t sure.
Casey sipped his wine. “Feel free to use whatever’s in the bathroom. I have no secrets from you.” Not many.
Her eyes widened again, and her lips parted. “You scare me.” She drank the wine in one gulp, then coughed.
Good merlot should be sipped—not gulped. But he hadn’t gone two days without food. “Why do I scare you?”
She shrugged out of his coat. “Because I can’t tell what you’re thinking or what you want from me.”
“Oh?” His previous girl had said he’d telegraphed every move.
“I don’t know what you want and I can’t figure out if you’re telling me the truth.” She left the stool. “I’d like that shower, though, please?”
He kept getting her right to the edge of opening up when she shut down again. Soon, he’d know her secrets, and she’d know his. He led her to the set of rooms along the back of the house. “In here. I’ve got towels, soap and anything you need in the drawers.”
“Even a flat iron?”
She’d volleyed a challenge. Nice. He liked her spirit. “If you want.” He turned the water on in the open stall. “I’ll leave you to your shower.”
“You can watch. I haven’t showered in ages.” She removed her filthy dress. “I used to have guards so I wouldn’t run away. I don’t know what it’s like to have privacy.”
Lomax used guards? Interesting. Casey spied the lines on her back. Lashings? “Were you whipped?”
She shuddered and didn’t turn around “I was told I deserved it.”
He touched the silvery scars. He remembered when he’d seen her at the club, she’d gotten off on being flogged, but not to the point of bloodletting. What she’d been through was abuse. She flinched when he touched her again.
“I’m sorry.” He pressed a kiss to her shoulder. “I’ll never do anything like this to you ever.” She tensed, but didn’t pull away. “Uh-huh.”
Soon, she’d give him her trust, and he’d prove not all vampires were evil. He wasn’t a nice man—more a son of a bitch—but not with her. She could be his salvation, and he refused to screw that up.
