MY IMPRESSIONS OF THE GIFT:
Fans of rock star romances will get a decadently delightful selection of stories in this anthology. With stories from nine of today’s best authors, readers will get tales of opposites attracting, characters trying to live up to their obligations, and the ups and downs of fame...all told with emotional intensity. The tales told here are full of temptations and pulls readers in wholeheartedly while leaving us wanting more..
In a tale that epitomizes the true meaning of love, The Gift by Katie Ashley shows readers the unconditional kind that’s not contingent on biology and depicts a modern definition of family. Set against the backdrop of the rock star world, a couple whose forbidden romance had them fighting to reach their HEA gets the perfect Christmas gift courtesy of an unwed mother. It’s a slice of life depicted in this novella, a picture perfect moment meant for a Christmas card, as the warmth of the holiday adds to the joy a new little addition brings to their family.
Bassist for the famous rock band Runaway Train, Rhys is sex-on-a-stick on stage while showing a sweet and caring side off stage in scenes with his nieces and nephews. Though his upbringing lacked in warmth, he’s ready to be a dad after finding his soul mate, and together they open up their hearts to make their “family” even bigger. There’s an overflow of love between Rhys and his wife Allison that has them embracing unexpected parenthood and the tender scenes seen here brought a tear to my eye. Alongside this strong-willed couple readers are reintroduced to Rhys’s bandmates and the women they love who enhanced the feelings of love and joy permeating this story and through their heartwarming interactions this cast of characters redefine what it means to be a family. From the first page to the last this is a tale that warms the heart. It’s a feel-good tale full of heart and soul with characters that endeared themselves to me in another satisfying addition to Ms. Ashley’s rock star series.
The other eight authors found in this collection are some of my favorites with stories that are part of well-loved series. I enjoyed the nostalgia of seeing past characters, and being introduced to new ones, in sweet and sexy stories perfect for reading by the Christmas tree. Instead of an Advent Calendar counting down the days until Christmas, readers will instead want to read a story a day to not only make you smile but to bring a bit of heat to the chilly weather courtesy of this delightful collection.
My rating for this is an A.
*I got the novella from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
