Book Tour for My Bad by Lani Lynn Vale (REVIEW)

A charming biker full of secrets finds himself attracted to a young nurse with a thing for military men in this decadently delightful small town romance.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of My Bad by Lani Lynn Vale, along with my impressions of it, then add this fourth installment in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC Series to your bookshelf too!

Hoax knows two things very well.
One, he’s not relationship material. Two, the nurse that treats him for erectile dysfunction is the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen, and practically has ‘the marrying type’ stamped on her forehead.
Does that stop him from wanting her? No.
Unfortunately, he learned a long time ago that Army Delta Force and long-lasting relationships don’t go hand in hand.
But beautiful hazel eyes, curly blonde hair, and the prettiest lips he’s ever seen play havoc with his resolve, making him forget his earlier convictions.
All it takes is one teeny, tiny kiss for every shred of control he has to disappear, along with the problem in his pants.
Soon he finds himself doing things that he knows that he shouldn’t. He doesn’t know that he’s found the woman that’s meant to be his. Nor does he realize that her father is the man he’s idolized from the moment he joined the army at the age of eighteen. Because, maybe if he had, he would’ve tried a little harder to ignore the pull he felt between them instead of making her his the night before he deployed for six months.
He also might’ve tried a little harder not to knock her up.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

From the first page to the last Ms. Vale has crafted another exhilarating romance that starts off with a slow burn before racing to a pulse-pounding conclusion.  With the close-knit Bear Bottom Guardians MC cheering them on, a sexy and strong-willed military man gives his all in defense of his country, while finding himself attracted to the snarky and immensely likable nurse who has him thinking thoughts of forever.  Though thousands of miles separate them they find themselves growing closer together in a tale that brings out Hoax’s sweet and protective side, which endeared him to me, as readers were introduced to yet another drool-worthy member of the MC that has quickly come to feel like family.

Hoax Hicks has devoted much of his life to defending others, from protecting relatives suffering from mental illness to the country he took an oath to, and it’s left him with plenty of scars.  While recovering at home from his latest injury he finds himself attracted to a nurse who’s had plenty of her own experiences with the military.  For the short time he’s at home he decides to give into temptation, but the more time he spends with Pru the more vital she becomes to him throughout their many sweet and sexy encounters.  When an obsessed acquaintance tries to harm her though, Hoax will use all his training and connections to keep her safe in a conclusion that had him flexing some serious muscle.  Hoax is a delicious hero, charming and teeming with sensuality.  He’s brash and blatantly goes after what he wants in scenes that quickly win over Pru...and readers too.

Pru Mackenzie has had bad experiences with military men in the past, her own father notwithstanding, but something about Hoax calls to her and has her trusting him with her heart.  Even though she knows their time is limited she makes the most of their time together in scorching scenes and flirty banter. When she makes a surprising discovery after his deployment, everything will change for them and he’ll have to prove to her what kind of man he really is. Along with her sexy romance with Hoax, Pru also has to deal with the unwanted attentions of her boss Kelley.  Kelley’s a creepy character born into a family of wealth who thinks he can get away with everything and has sexually harassed almost every nurse at the hospital his family runs.  Knowing Kelley’s going after Pru has Hoax calling every one of his brothers in to keep her safe in scenes that reinforce the devotion this tight-knit family of badass bikers has for each other. Pru’s a delightful heroine, strong-willed with a tell it like it is attitude.  She understands Hoax’s commitment to the military and supports him wholeheartedly even as her fears of Kelley grow.  She never made demands of Hoax which made their HEA even richer as his choices were his own and showed a deep commitment to his new family.

Much about this book is typical for Ms. Vale, but that doesn’t diminish my enjoyment of it.  The characters are immensely appealing and practically jumped off the pages.  The romance between Pru and Hoax slowly built through sweet and sexy interludes that allowed them to bond in a realistic way before having to deal with the harsh realities of deployment.  This issue was dealt with in a way that made my heart ache while subtly introducing readers to a whole new cast of characters with enticing stories yet to be told.  Alongside the likable main couple were other characters, members of the MC and their friends, who were a strong support as this story raced to its exhilarating conclusion that gave the villain his just rewards.  Among the memorable secondary characters it’s Bayou and Brielle, with their mental illnesses, that stood out and left me wanting more.  Bayou has Asperger’s Syndrome and his quirks are realistically, and endearingly, depicted.  Brielle is very possessive, and protective, of those she claims as hers and though I applaud her devotion I fear where things will go for her which has me longing to see more of her.  As I count down the days until the next installment in this series I’m left drooling over the numerous bikers with big hearts and big muscles who I hope will take center stage next.

My rating for this is a B+/A-

*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
