Book Blitz for The Science of Attraction by Jay Hogan…..

Fans of M/M romances will be drawn to this tale of a man who loves his small community, but discovers he can't keep his heart's desire hidden when a bold man comes to town.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of The Science of Attraction by Jay Hogan, then add this third installment in A Mackenzie Country Story series to your bookshelf!

I am Mackenzie Country born and bred. Farming the high country runs in my blood, like my father, and his father, and my great grandfather before him. My future has been mapped out for me since the day I was born. Or at least it was, until Liam Skelton walks onto Lane Station, lights a fire in my heart, and turns my whole world upside down.
Bossy, tatted, and out and proud, Liam is everything my father abhors.
And I want him.
Badly.
But having a chance with Liam means risking everything. My family. My future. And my life in these mountains that I love.
Still, the heart wants what it wants, and mine wants Liam.
With so many things against us, maybe we don’t have a chance.
Maybe we’ll crash and burn.
Or maybe we’ll find a way to have it all.

EXCERPT:

When we arrived back at the cottage, Jules looked pretty much like I figured I did—grilled to within an inch of his life. I’d barely stepped in the door when he grabbed my hand and pulled me back out onto the veranda and proceeded to kiss me like he hadn’t seen me for months. I loved it, along with far too much of the man actually doing it considering I’d only known him a month.
“I’m so sorry,” he apologised, brushing my hair out of my eyes. “How bad were they?”
“It was fine,” I reassured him. “I just have to be nice to you if I don’t want my balls fed to Holden’s stud Angus bull while they’re still attached. A terrifying thought if I let myself dwell on it too much.”
“Oh god,” he moaned. “I’m gonna kill him.”
I laughed and grabbed his arm before he could follow through. “Forget it. Besides—” I lifted up on my toes and pressed our lips together. “—I have zero intention of being anything other than very, very nice to you.” I palmed his dick through his jeans and squeezed. “So, I figure I’m safe.”
His eyes rolled back in his head and he thrust into my hand, adding in a strangled voice, “The kennel shed out back should be friend-free if we hurry.”
“No time for that.” Zach waggled his brows at us through the window. “Fuck me,” Jules groaned under his breath.
“I heard that.” Zach smirked. “But Gil needs a hand on the barbecue and your name was volunteered.”
“Go on.” I gave Jules a shove toward the front door and then slapped his butt on the way. “We have all night.”
He grumbled over his shoulder, “If there’s anything left of my nerves after the Gordon Ramsey of the Mackenzie is done using me as his bitch.”
I laughed and gave him another shove.

Book Release Blast for Landon by Marie James (REVIEW)……

For years two friends have fought their growing attraction to one another until the obvious can no longer be ignored in this New Adult m/m romance set amidst the backdrop of the MC world.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Landon by Marie James, along with my impressions of this emotional and steamy romance, then add this 22nd installment in the Cerberus MC series to your bookshelf!

He ruined a lifelong friendship the night he kissed me.
I spent the next three years avoiding him.
Well...I tried at least.
With my dad being a member of the Cerberus MC and his dad married to one of the members it was virtually impossible.
Just like it was impossible to keep from watching his mouth when he spoke.
The same went for staring at his hands and remembering how they felt on my skin that night. Senior year of college, after years of keeping our distance, we ended up in the same dorm room. Avoiding him now is no longer an option...
Landon is a bi-awakening, best friends to enemies to lovers novel.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

The Cerberus MC series has been one heckuva rollercoaster ride through 21 previous books!  Number 22 is yet another winner, taking readers on an emotionally intense journey of two lifelong friends and the feelings that evolve to break them up before bringing them back together.  It's a journey of acceptance of yourself, embracing love whoever offers it, and not letting the judgements of others keep you from your HEA. This is a tale that spans years, breaks your heart early on, before putting a smile on your face with a satisfying conclusion.

Rick and Landon had been friends for years before a traumatic event led Rick to confessing his secret love for his best friend.  It's a moment that pulled them apart though with Landon unable to admit what he's spent years fighting...that he feels the same for his friend.  My heart broke for Rick at that moment, for being brave enough to admit the truth about what's in his heart and being turned away...being ignored for years in fact before fate brought them back together as roommates whose closeness led to Landon no longer being able to keep his true feelings hidden.

Throughout their frustrating and emotional journey I truly liked Rick.  He had a big heart that he simply wanted to give to Landon, he simply wanted to be seen as someone Landon could love, instead of being kept at arm's length.  Landon especially frustrated me because of the casualness of the hurt he caused Rick, hurt that was mostly because of his indecision and fear over how others might see him.  Once he admitted his feelings to himself though he was all in and his actions started to charm me.

Theirs was a hard-fought journey to HEA, one that put them and readers through the wringer.  Things might've started out slow but they turned steamy halfway through in encounters that were tender and sensual.  Once these two started to talk I was truly touched by their maturity and the openness of what their being together means. Though this book is part of the Cerberus MC series it focuses solely on Landon and Rick. Secondary characters, family and friends, are seen but the action is totally of the emotional kind as we watch these two become men in love with each other.  It's a heartfelt read that's a refreshing addition to the usual MC fare and is one I definitely recommend!

My rating for this is an A-

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

While picking up right where the previous book in this duet left off, things turn even more emotional here as readers get deeper insight into the characters.  In the previous book Cavanugh seemed like a stereotype but in this book we get to see a more fleshed-out character.  The reasons why Cavanugh does what he does, acts the way he does, are clearer here and I found myself liking him more and finding him to be a stronger person this time around.  That's not to say that he won't do what needs to be done to skew things his way, but the reasoning behind it doesn't bother me as much throughout this story as it did before.  Other characters too showed themselves to be stronger as this story progressed.  One of them, Connor, has finally come to the truth regarding Thomas and I was proud of him for making things right.  The maturity of these two showed through in a romance that felt more realistic, more rich, as seen through interactions that were more loving, caring, and supportive.  They were a formidable pairing, one that I was rooting for every step of the way.  Their togetherness made my heart sing....when it wasn't pulling at my heartstrings that is....in a fun and flirty romance full of heart and soul.

Along with this captivating main couple were the equally appealing secondary characters of Chloe and Jase, friends and family members who are the glue holding these two young men together (both as a couple and separately).  Both of these characters are kind and loving with Chloe being there for Cavanugh from the very beginning to Jase who was unwaveringly supportive of his brother Connor from the start and was a young man wise beyond his years.  On a whole this was a story full of angst, a story of accepting the person you are inside, while accepting love from whoever wraps you in its warm embrace.  After each turn of the page, and a story that pushed all my emotional buttons, readers are rewarded with a flawless epilogue that tied up all that came before beautifully.  When it comes to an unforgettable m/m romance, Ms. Lowe has placed herself on a pedestal with this captivating tale that fans of this genre will be recommending for years to come.

My rating for this is an A+

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

This was a tough read from the very first page, an angsty read full of poor decisions, misunderstandings, and all the usual difficulties of growing up.  What added even further to the angst of this story was Connor's open homosexuality, the hiding of other's sexuality, and all the heartbreaking decisions made that frustrated me one moment while pulling at my heartstrings the next.  And just when you think you know where things are going Ms. Lowe pulls no punches in her jaw on the floor cliffhanger ending.

Connor Siddell is in fact a good boy, someone with a kind and protective heart.  He's new in town after living through tragic events, trying to start over while living openly as a gay young man.  He luckily discovers someone to help ease his heart and soul on a dating app which leads to lots of romantic drama.  The one dark spot is Cavanaugh McLaughlin, fellow classmate who shows a lot of anger and hatred towards.  Though Connor doesn't understand what fuels Cav's rage, it definitely complicates things from the very start and ends up being just one piece to the cliffhanger ending.  Cav's a complicated character, one I didn't really care for at the start.  He's a Senator's son whose life is decided for him.  He's a popular bad boy with the tattoos to prove it while he commits deeds of bullying that made him occasionally unlikable.  There's a lot of pain hiding behind his hurtful behavior though, lots of stories about him, about his friends, and it all leads to inner conflicts about what he wants his life to be and who he wants to admit to being.  Things take a big turn for him once Connor discovers the truth about Cav and the attraction Cav feels for him.  It's a sizzling connection between them but one that doesn't go smoothly as Cav fights the truth of his feelings in a journey that broke my heart.

Cav and Con are a compelling main couple whose connection is put through the wringer in a tale that pulled at my heartstrings.  There was never a guaranteed HEA for these two as there was a lot of push/pull between them which left me on edge the entire time I saw them together.  Surrounding this larger than life main couple was a cast of intriguing secondary characters like Jase, Connor's brother who was loyal and loving, someone who becomes a surprisingly strong support to Cav as the story progresses. Cav's friend Thomas was someone who left me enraged as his supposed friendship often saw him being manipulative and hurtful while constantly getting between him and Connor.  His actions scared me and his presence ultimately fueled the painfully jaw-dropping ending.  I'm now left waiting for a resolution to that tragic cliffhanger, waiting in breathless anticipation to a powerful tale that packs an emotional wallop!

My rating for this is a B-

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

As a fan of rockstar romances I was immediately drawn to the premise of this novella, but as part of a series I always worry I'll be missing out on all that came before.  Fortunately this is the kind of story that you can pick up on its own and enjoy from the first page to the last.  With likable characters, sizzling interactions, and a bit of angst courtesy of a lead singer hiding his sexuality, readers will find themselves glued to the pages and rooting this couple on every step of the way.  By the turn of the final page I was left with a smile on my face and a heart warmed by this couple's journey to HEA, a journey that has me more than ready to revisit all these characters again soon!

Jamie Hawke is lead singer of the band Birds of Prey, a band who's been together for years and found lots of success.  As the lead singer he's the face of the band, the one who's the center of attention, which is why he's kept his homosexuality a secret.  He worries that the truth about himself will destroy the band and has, until now, been content spending time with women.  With their upcoming album hitting a rough patch though, Jamie's starting to feel the pressure, which makes his unexpected attraction to their new producer such an inconvenience.  The moment he meets Sammy sparks fly and their time together shows them more than capable of making beautiful music together!  But their journey to HEA isn't an easy one as misunderstandings, self-doubts, and the press cause all sorts of bumps along the way as Jamie decides what's more important...love and truth OR lies and loneliness.  Jamie's a likable hero, sweet and sexy.  He's charming too with moments of insecurity that endeared him to me.  While his fears of coming-out are understandable they're frustrating too as he's selling his bandmates short when doubting their support of him.  Despite my frustration I adored the members of Birds of Prey and was proud of their role in Jamie's journey.

Sammy Rhodes is a self-confident young man being given the chance of a lifetime producing rock gods Birds of Prey's new album.  Add in his instantaneous attraction to the band's lead singer and his life will be inexplicably changed forever.  It's an attraction that doesn't go smoothly though as outside forces and self-doubts weigh on them in a journey full of emotional highs and lows.  Through their time together it's clear that Sammy's comfortable in his own skin, coming-out at a young age has made for an open way of living and loving and he has no desire to hide...even IF that's what Jamie might want.  Throughout his romance with Jamie he has a strong support system of friends who are more like family and they stand beside him through every speed bump on his road to HEA and it made for a few tears and cheers along the way!

On a whole this was a satisfying novella, a well-crafted m/m romance with a large cast of secondary characters who I sometimes lost track of but always found likable.  From Sammy's friends to Jamie's bandmates, these were characters that were unconditionally supportive and that now have me curious to know more about them all.  Jamie and Sammy were a delightful pairing, sweet early on in scenes that warmed my heart before things turned sizzling later on.  There were moments that frustrated me, moments that made me blush, and moments that had me screaming...all in all I got put through the emotional wringer and enjoyed every moment of it!  Though much about this novella was familiar I still found it an entertaining and enjoyable m/m romance that fans of the genre will want to get their hands on!

My rating for this is a B+

I’ve always been known as the hopeless romantic…the nice guy…the sweetheart.
Everything in my life supported this persona. My students loved my easy personality. My colleagues admired the way I handled myself in the classroom.
But something was always missing.
Like so many relationships before it, my current attempt at love felt like a dead end. When she gave me an ultimatum, I couldn’t promise to give her what she wanted.
So, she ended it.
Explaining another breakup to my family was the last thing I wanted. But doing it on a luxury yacht at my brother’s wedding lessened the hardship.
I never imagined that trip would change everything... and I certainly wasn’t prepared for him to change everything.
Upside Down is a sister’s best friend, sexual awakening, m/m stand-alone romance that contains adult content.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

I've had the pleasure of reading books by this author before and enjoyed the emotional ups and downs permeating her stories along with discovering characters that are easy to relate to.  This latest release gives readers all that and more in a tale of a man who discovers what's always been missing in his life when an unexpected romance blooms while celebrating his brother's destination wedding.  It's not long before the joy of new love, and the impact of self-introspection amidst heartfelt talks, pushes this new couple out into the open while pulling at my heartstrings every step of the way.

Cooper Stanton's a college lit professor who's well-liked by all, seen as reliable and respected.  He's a man who talks about romance every day, believes in it, but is completely hapless when it comes to real life romance for himself.  He's dated some truly wonderful women over the years, but he never considered any of them to be "the one" and is still single while watching all of his family members find their HEAs.  His most recent break-up was especially heartbreaking as his family adored her and he's now left dealing with the fallout of them ending things during the celebration of his brother's wedding.  Attending the wedding doesn't go at all like Cooper thought it would though as it ends up being a time of self-revelation and the discovery of a love that he's only dreamed of before.  Embracing that love means accepting a different side to himself, applying a new label to what others have seen but that he's ignored until this eye-opening weekend.  It wasn't an easy journey for him but once he committed to what his heart so blatantly wanted he was totally on board.  He had to prove himself as his heart's desire had lingering pain from a past relationship, but Cooper proved himself worthy regarding all the romantic heroes he's read about in a romance that was sweet and sensual.  I liked Cooper from the very start as he was sweet and caring, an all-around good guy who I was rooting for through each new high and low.  His self-introspection endeared him to me while pushing every one of my emotional buttons in a journey that was both timely and realistically addressed and I applaud the author for her handling of his coming out.

Ricky Burrows is a friend and business partner to Cooper's sister and has been butting heads with Cooper for years.  Not only that, but the two recently shared a drunken kiss that neither have been able to forget about.  Seeing the newly-single Cooper again brings all their unrequited feelings to the surface, leading to lots of soul searching in a romance full of angst, heart, and soul that kept me glued to the pages.  Ricky always knew that Cooper was hiding from the truth which fueled much of their bickering over the years...as does the intense connection stemming from their recent kiss which he knows he can never act on.  Or maybe he can act on it as Cooper discovers he can no longer hide from the truth with Ricky acting as a solid support to him in his journey of self-discovery, a journey that was life-altering for both of them.  The road to HEA hasn't been easy for Ricky either as his last boyfriend decided to stay in the closet which has left him leery of opening his heart again.  He doesn't want to be another man's dirty little secret or be a sexual experiment to someone just testing the waters. Ricky just wants to be loved but it will take a lot to win his jaded and bruised heart. Luckily Cooper has the words from classic romance books to help him win Ricky over and I enjoyed the sensual dance these two engaged in as it warmed my heart while making me blush a time or two.

On a whole this was a well-crafted story that gave good insight into both of the heroes, showed how fragile love could make them as well as the strength it engendered in them. Cooper's journey was one of self-acceptance and it was a cheer-worthy one, made even better by his loving and supportive family. Ricky had to learn how to trust again, be willing to put his heart on the line for happiness as Cooper more than proved himself worthy of Ricky's love in their empowering romance.  Though this is part of a series it stands strongly on its own, never making me feel as if I'm missing out on something by not having read the two previous books.  The romance itself was sweet and sensual, teeming with sexual tension from the very start.  The banter between these two was both witty and combustible, making their scenes together crackle.  This story grabbed me from the very first page to the last, captivating me with its empowering storyline and sizzling romance and I look forward to this author's next m/m-fueled romance!

My rating for this is an A.
