New Beginnings or Family Loyalty on Shameless:Season One on DVD/Blu-ray

Season one of Shameless on Showtime was full of hardships but it usually ended with a twist of humor because of their close family ties. At the end of Season 1, we found Steve trying to convince Fiona, the oldest daughter, to skip town with him to the warm and beautiful/care-free Costa Rica. This kind of lifestyle would surely be a great change for Fiona, but after initially deciding to go with Steve, she changes her mind and stays with her hard yet humorous, family-oriented life.  I can totally relate to Fiona and would have done exactly what she did.  I would do anything for my family even though they drive me nuts at times.  I would sacrifice everything for them, even my own happiness.  Family is everything at the end of the day and will be there for you long after the boyfriends and friends are gone.  With Season 2 premiering in just a few days, you can catch up with Season 1 on DVD and Blu-ray

What Fiona Deserves on Shameless:The Complete First Season on DVD

Frank Gallagher is not what you'd think of as father of the year, spending every extra penny at the bar instead of awarding his daughter Fiona for all the hard work she does for the family.  If it were me I'd give her the money to go on a long tropical vacation.  Spending time on a relaxing tropical beach having people cater to her is what she deserves after constantly helping others amidst all the chaos her family causes.  To be helped instead of helping others is only fair after what her family puts her through.  Don't you think that sounds only fair for her being such a helpful daughter?

Chuck: The Complete 4th Season On DVD - Love & Marriage

Spy show Chuck is not only about action.  There's plenty of romance too which appeals to me as a romance reader.  One of the more touching storylines involved Morgan and his soon-to-be stepfather Big Mike.  Their relationship starts with Morgan avoiding his mother's house so he wouldn't have to face Big Mike. Big Mike reveals that he is proud of Morgan’s new role in the company. After spending months out at sea, he has realized that Morgan's mother is the source of his happiness, and reveals his intention to propose. Morgan hires him, and Big Mike entrusts Morgan with the proposal ring until Morgan judges him "worthy of his mother's love".

I think this was an important gesture for Big Mike to extend to Morgan.  Coming into an already made family can be difficult and it's important for Big Mike to not overstep Morgan's role alongside his mother.  Big Mike is showing that Morgan's feelings for him are just as important as Morgan's mother's feelings.  If it were me I would have let Big Mike propose immediately.  This gesture speaks very highly of his character and his understanding of other's feelings, so I would deam him worthy of Morgan's mother's love.

Being Replaced on Chuck:The Complete Fourth Season on DVD

With the release of Chuck's Fourth Season on DVD fast approaching, I'm finding more and more moments from the show showing up in my own life.  For example, in episode 18 Sarah worries that the CIA is replacing them with Casey's extremely efficient team, but Chuck considers himself irreplaceable with the Intersect.   As a disabled person, I've had many moments where I didn't feel that I could compete or keep up with others.  In high school and college whenever there was a group project I was given very little to do.  Since I KNEW I could do a great job I just had to get used to being more outspoken and take on more of a leadership role.  Once I did that, others no longer doubted my abilities.  These feelings of empowerment have carried through the rest of my life and I now have more faith in myself.

It's Proposal Time on Chuck: The Complete Fourth Season on DVD

With the new and final season of the spy show Chuck returning soon to television I wanted to take a look back at one of the most important moments in the series thus far.  In episode 13, Chuck finally proposes to Sarah in the hospital hallway. She accepts, kneeling with him and kissing him as the scene fades.  This was a moment long in the making.  Chuck had been in love with Sarah for so long and after almost losing her I was thrilled they finally found their happily ever after.  As a person that reads lots of romance novels, I found this moment to be extremely emotional and a beautiful moment in their relationship that is well-deserved after all the life-threatening moments they've been through together.

No Guts, No Glory With Chuck:The Complete Fourth Season On DVD

With the new season of Chuck getting ready to return to the airwaves, now's the time for fans to rewatch last season so they're ready for the final season of this fun spy series.  New viewers can also get in on what they've been missing by watching Season 4 before Chuck's final episodes air.  Chuck is a unique show with spies willing to do what needs to be done no matter the cost.

In the fourth season finale for example, Sarah has been shot by the “Norseman” device and only has twelve hours left to live. Chuck turns his back on the CIA and despite all warnings sprints throughout the episode to find the antidote to save his fiance Sarah.  I can understand why he did what he did.  Despite knowing better, I'm the kind of person who will help anyone who asks.  It's too ingrained in me by my parents to help others.  Most times things work out fine and I feel good about helping, but other times I end up feeling taken advantage of.  It won't change my first instinct to help when asked though.

Hidden Villains on The Mentalist: The Complete Third Season on DVD

As a person who loves drama and mysteries, I enjoy when a tv show can keep me guessing about whodunit.  During Season 3, Patrick is on a mission to identify who Red John’s mole within the CBI is.  For me, I actually didn't figure it out.  I was too focused on Red John himself and Patrick's revenge.  What usually happens when discovering a mole is seeing a secondary character suddenly having more scenes and just being more nosy.  I liked The Mentalist having this extra mystery even though I didn't solve it.  It added an extra, exciting dimension to the show.

The Mentalist: Season 3 on DVD When the Villain Comes to An End...Or Does He?

From time to time I talk tv and with the 3rd season of The Mentalist out on DVD soon I've been discussing the show.  One of the most intriguing aspects of this show is the long running villain Red John who has tormented Patrick for years and destroyed his life.  In the Season 3 finale, Patrick confronts and shoots a man who claims to be the serial killer who murdered his wife and daughter - Red John.  Now as a person who reads romance novels and who has encountered plots where the villain is seemingly killed but then comes back, I'm not entirely convinced the man was Red John.  It's been Patrick's purpose for so long to kill Red John that I can't quite buy that it happened so soon.  Most shows save this for the finale.  But with season 4 premiering soon we'll find out if Red John is truly dead.

Psychic Abilities....Real or Not on The Mentalist

As a reader of paranormal romances I LOVE the idea of having psychic abilities.  These unique abilities can make life easier under the right circumstances.  On the tv show The Mentalist, during Season 3, Patrick appears to be able to communicate with horses as a ‘horse whisperer’, charm guilty culprits into spilling their secrets and help a hired burglar out of a holding cell in less than 24 hours.  Which of Patrick Jane’s skills would you most like to possess?  What would you do with that ability?

I'd love to be able to talk to animals.  My cat's been displaying some behavioral issues lately and I'd love to know why.  I spoil her like crazy so she shouldn't be angry about anything but I'd love to have the ability to reason with her and get her to stop the inappropriate behavior.  Then, if I got really good at talking to animals, I could get my own tv show and become famous.

A New Love or An Old Love on Fringe:Season 3 on DVD

For the last few weeks I've been talking about the sci-fi tv show Fringe and finding parts of its most recent season, season 3, correlating to certain things I love about romance novels.  For example, throughout most of Season 3, Peter is in love with who he thinks is Olivia, but it’s actually Olivia from the alternate universe.  When the original Olivia returns, Peter is emotionally distraught, because he realizes that he’d enjoyed spending time with the alternate Olivia.  If you were Peter, what would you do in this situation?  Would you stay with the alternate Olivia or return to the original Olivia who you developed an initial relationship with?

This theme of lost loves has shown up in a few of the romance novels I've read and it's a compelling dilemma.  For me, I'd feel the closest connection to the person I've spent the most recent time with.  They're the person that I'd feel the truest love for.  After all, people change over time and the person you once knew you might no longer really know, especially after being apart from them for so long.  Circumstances change a person, both them and myself and we might not want the same things anymore.

As a reader of many romance novels, I love discovering a man who's observant, remembers things, and is super intelligent.  On the tv show The Mentalist there's just such a man in Patrick Jane.  If you haven't yet discovered this handsome and intelligent man now's the time to introduce yourself to him.  Season 3 of The Mentalist finds Patrick Jane solving mysteries at locations including a racetrack, driving range, gold country and a mixed martial arts match.  Based on Patrick’s experiences in the episodes, which of these locations would you find the most challenging to investigate?  Why?

I think spending time in gold country would be the most difficult.  I tend to lose things in my own home so I can't imagine being in a place where there's even more lost items surrounding me.  Plus, can you imagine all the fortune hunters running around?  Utter chaos!  But if Patrick Jane were with me it would be worth the sacrifice.

For all you sci-fi fans out there, if you haven't watched Fringe yet, what are you waiting for?  It's a fast-paced, entertaining, and thought-provoking series that poses some interesting questions.  For example, at the end of Season 3 Peter makes the decision to sacrifice himself thus altering the future.  If you were given the opportunity to change the future, would you take matters into your own hands, or would you trust in fate?

For me, I'm the kind of person that needs to be in control.  I'd definitely consider myself a control freak.  Whenever I leave things to other people they always get messed up.  So I'd rather deal with things on my own.  After all, no one knows me and mine better than me, so I have a vested interest in the outcome of people's choices.

Sci-Fi Invades Real Life With The Third Season of Fringe on DVD

Throughout the summer I've been able to catch up on the most recent season of the tv show Fringe and with the soon-to-be released DVD set you can too.  One of the interesting aspects of season 3 of Fringe is that it's set within two distinctive worlds where one world is affected by the actions that occur in the other.  Something like this happens to each of us bloggers everyday where we try to balance our online persona with who we are in our professional life.  Ways of maintaining a balance are to be straight-forward in how you present yourself.  Remember that anything you put on the internet is there for a lifetime.  Don't be something you're not, be proud of who you are.  In my case, what you see is what you get.  I'm proud of my love of books and sci-fi and proclaim it here for all to see.
