Book Release Blitz for Wicked Knight by Sawyer Bennett (REVIEW)

Readers will be ringing in the new year in steamy style with this erotically-charged tale of opposites attracting as a cold businessman finds himself drawn to a hard working single mom.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Wicked Knight by Sawyer Bennett, along with my impressions of this story I was sad to see end, then add this fifth installment in the Wicked Horse Vegas series to your bookshelf!

He never wanted to be anyone’s hero...
Asher Knight is tall, dark, and wickedly handsome. He’s also irrevocably broken. Submerging himself in long hours at work by day and debauchery at The Wicked Horse by night, Asher uses work and play to numb the pain and guilt he feels over the death of his wife. What isn’t satisfied with one will surely be resolved by the other. At least that’s how he’s survived the last few years.
Hannah Madigan works three jobs just to make ends meet. Beat down by life, not to mention a cheating husband who was unfairly awarded custody of their daughter, Hannah is determined to make a better life for herself and get her kid back. But with pressures mounting and one costly mistake that leaves her owing Asher a huge debt, Hannah is as close as she’s ever come to throwing in the towel.
She’s given a golden opportunity...
Determined to stay the course by any means necessary, Hannah accepts an unusual proposal from Asher. He’ll give her a job. She’ll give him her body. Sounds easy, right? Until she realizes she needs his help more than she’s willing to admit. And he finds her adding to his life in ways he never wanted to accept.
This wicked knight may just learn that sometimes saving someone else means allowing yourself to be saved in return.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

With 2019 just ringing in, I’ve once again been captivated by this perfect blend of steamy and emotionally rewarding storytelling that Ms. Bennett has become a master at.  It’s been a scorching ride through the five books of this series, an engaging romp for the appealing couples finding HEA that I’m sad came to an end here.  From the first page to the last I found myself rooting for these two very different people as they made each other better, discovered more about themselves, in a romance full of heart and soul.

Asher Knight grew up in a family of monetary wealth with a kindhearted twin sister and a loving and caring mother who were the bright spots in an otherwise cold childhood.  Though these women are the ones he thinks of most fondly it’s his father that seems to have had the biggest impact on Asher as he was a man devoted to work to the exclusion of his family.  He saw his wife and children as an intrusion and ignored them as much as possible.  If they weren’t helping his career, increasing the family coffers, he saw them as a failure.  For many years Asher tried to earn his father’s praise, but now he just wants to be a richer man than him.  He’s succeeding in one way as he’s a better businessman and making much more money, but when it comes to matters of the heart Asher’s faltering. The death of his wife years back had him closing off his heart even more, not wanting to be held back by the pain of loving and losing ever again.  His mother’s death compounded those feelings.  Until now he’s been content with the casual encounters to be found at The Wicked Horse, content to let off steam in the erotically-charged fun and games the club promotes.  An unexpected introduction to a woman very different from him changes his life irrevocably though and reawakens his heart to all the possibilities of love and HEA if he’s just willing to take a chance.  Sparks fly the moment he met Hannah and he’s thrilled to have her in his debt as he uses a sensual contract to work her out of his system.  Their relationship may start off as merely sexual, but he soon starts having more meaningful feelings that bring out his protective side. It’s a subtle change in his feelings that he wants to fight, but it soon becomes clear that being with her is the most important business decision he’ll ever make.  Asher starts off this story as a rather cold and calculating hero.  He’s a master at business, but bad when it comes to emotions as he desperately wants to keep all feelings hidden.  Meeting Hannah shows his strong alpha tendencies as he negotiates with her to get her to The Wicked Horse, but the more time they spend together the more likely he was to compromise with her.  She became an addiction, not only to his body but to his heart, and it became a more heartwarming journey as he flashed more smiles and became more invested in making life better for her.  The initial image of Asher is of a sexy and commanding beast, but by the end readers discover a sweet and caring side to him that made him even sexier.

Hannah Madigan grew up in a single mom household where everyday was a struggle.  Her family may have been short on money, but not when it came to love as her strong-willed mom worked hard to make a happy home.  As an adult Hannah’s just like her mom as she’s currently working three jobs to do right by her daughter, struggling to get custody back from her vile and duplicitous ex. It’s at one of her jobs where she meets Asher and finds herself indebted to him after breaking a vase.  His offer of a night at The Wicked Horse with him in exchange for a large sum of money has her feeling like a whore at first, but as one night becomes more she can’t help the growing attraction she has towards him.  She expected to feel dirty at the club, but she instead feels liberated and it empowers her to go after her ex even more forcefully.  With Asher and his financial power by her side it becomes a formidable journey to HEA that has them becoming a family.  Hannah’s an immensely appealing heroine who does all she can for those she cares for.  She’s a tell it like it is woman who gives Asher a run for his money at every turn.  Their relationship starts off as strictly business but soon takes a more heartfelt turn as she works her way into his bed and his heart.

On a whole this was a decadently delightful read, though not quite as graphic as previous installments.  It’s still a scorching read but more of the action seemed to take place outside the club.  This is a tale of opposites attracting and there’s much about that theme that seems familiar here, but that doesn’t make it any less satisfying as the eroticism is nicely blended with matters of the heart. Hannah and Asher are a formidable pairing and I was fully immersed in their journey to HEA, a journey full of second chances, that culminated in a wonderful epilogue.  Though this main couple was at center stage, with a sweet and sexy storyline revolving around them, I still enjoyed the brief glimpses of past characters that gave a sense of family to the story.  The character that called to me most is Kynan and I’m becoming even more infatuated with him as I wait for his story to be told.  Readers looking for the perfect afternoon delight will want to add this scorching tale to your bookshelf!

My rating for this is an A-

*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
