TSP: Did you always want to be a writer and how did you get where you are today?
LK: I've always enjoyed writing, but I never attempted a novel until I met a palm reader in New Orleans who smiled at me and told me I was going to be a famous writer one day... LOL By the end of the trip I wrote the basic plot for Night Walker on cocktail napkins in the New Orleans airport.
TSP: What genres do you like to write in and are there any genres you haven't written in yet that you'd like to try your hand at?
LK: I enjoy Paranomal romance, Urban Fantasy, and Horror. I'm sort of watching Steampunk right now... I think it might be a fun genre!
TSP: Your current release is with a fairly new to the scene publisher, Entangled Publishing. What are the advantages to working with a newbie publisher?
LK: I think the biggest advantage is that my book isn't just a publishing-slot filler. Being new, my publisher did everything they could to make Night Walker great and they're counting on the book standing out.
TSP: What affect has the digital revolution had on your career and the way you market yourself?
LK: While I was at RomCon, I met a wonderful book blogger from the book reading gals. She had her iPad with her and she was showing me the different eReader apps. She checked for my book and ended up buying a copy from the iBooks library. About 30 seconds later it was in her iPad ready to read! WOW! I think digital makes it much easier to reach readers whenever and wherever they decide they want a new book. We live in amazing times! LOL
TSP: What can you tell us about your Night Walker series and where do you see it going?
LK: My Night Walker series tells the story of vampire-like Night Walkers that descend from the Mayans instead of from Europe. They can shapeshift into their spirit animal and they're actually alive at night. Their hearts beat and they breathe. The series will have three books and a novella.
TSP: How do the Night Walkers differ from average vampires and do you think the public will ever tire of vampire stories?
LK: Whoops! I put that on the last question! LOL I don't think vampires will ever fade away. I think the thought of being able to watch the world change over lifetimes is too intriguing for we mortals. It's always intriguing to see the effect it has on a character. What price do they pay for their immortality? How do they stay relevant in a changing world when they never change? There are endless possibilities for writers and readers alike! :)
TSP: My blog is all about your favorite things. So what are your favorite things, the things you can't live without?
LK: Music and books would top the list! :) When I'm not listening to music I'm singing it! Whenever I'm stressed or blue, singing usually buoys my spirits again. I also love to read and lose myself in another world. And my other very most favorite thing is Disney! I have been a rabid Disney fan all my life... I mostly gravitate toward the villains these days... I love the Evil Queen from Snow White! That was a woman with a plan who wasn't afraid to get things done on her own... LOL
Thanks so much for having me on your blog!
