Book Tour for Studenstein by Daisy Harris (Interview & GIVEAWAY)

Before we get to my interview with Daisy Harris about her newest release Studenstein and the giveaway for a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card, I want to thank Goddess Fish Promotions for letting me be a part of this tour and Daisy for taking time out of her busy schedule to answer my questions.  So without further ado, here's Daisy.....

TSP:  Did you always want to be a writer and what was the path that got you where you are today?

DH:  Nope, not always! I wanted to write fiction as a child. However, English wasn’t my strong suit. I tended to butt heads with English teachers. LOL. I got along with science teachers great though, and soon I was rocking the classroom in chemistry and physics.

Hence I journeyed into the world of the sciences for many years. After a while, I found myself doing mostly research and writing, and then mostly writing. After a while, I started blogging and writing little “how to write” articles. A few friends commented on my humorous and pithy style and advised me to try my hand at fiction.

TSP:  You mostly write in the romance/erotic genre.  What do you like about this genre and is there another genre that you'd like to try writing in at some point?

DH:  It’s true to that I write romance/erotica, but I also write pretty exclusively paranormal and science fiction. I’d probably be more likely to try my hand at Urban Fantasy or Sci-fi writing than other types of romance.

I could also see attempting young adult. I have daughters and they’re always asking when I’ll write a book they can read. Snort. Um… Well, not right now!

I’m also a big fan of non-fiction. I love Mary Roach and Malcolm Gladwell. I used to imagine I’d write books like theirs someday. But I’d probably have to do it under another name.

TSP:  Of all the books you've written, do you have a favorite and why?  Also, of all the characters you've written, do you have one that you feel most connected to?

DH:  Ach! That’s like asking which of my children is my favorite! (Though I only have two kids, and am currently releasing my seventh story.) I will say, though—I really, really love my latest release, Studenstein. It’s going to be hard to top that one. My hero, Royce, is just…scrumptious. He’s fabulous and flawed and about the most fantastic hero ever.

Though I will say, I also really liked Mere Passion, and my hero in that story General Kai Nasu. He was my first deep-feeling alpha male and a total jerk. I loved kicking his butt.

As for heroines… It’s hard to say. Right now, I’m loving Shani from Studenstein. She has such anger control issues! There’s a scene in Studenstein where she’s at a small diner and can’t stop being obnoxious, even though she knows she’s digging herself deeper and deeper into a hole. I so relate to that feeling—when you’re angry and taking it out on totally innocent bystanders, but can’t seem to shut it off… Yeah, I’ve had that happen.

I adored how my hero Royce could be a balm to Shani’s moods. He brought out her sweet side. And when he gets incensed in her defense, it gives Shani a chance to be the level-headed one.

TSP:  Can you tell us about your new release Studenstein?  What's it about and how did you come up with it?

DH:  Studenstein is the second book in my Love-Bot series. It’s about a male sex-slave named Royce Harden who gets “rescued” by a hard-nosed freedom-fighter named Shani. Of course, Royce doesn’t exactly want to be freed. And though he’s devastatingly charming, Shani is immune to his bullshit. Hilarity ensues!
The inspiration for the story was the concept of “the perfect man.” I love taking iconic concepts and turning them on their ears.

TSP:  What do you have coming up next that you can tell us about?

DH:  I’m working on the third installment of my Love-Bot series, Built4It. It’s a male-male story about a stein built for medical research and the lab assistant he captures and holds prisoner. Lots of hot cage action!

TSP:  What do you think about the digital revolution and how has it affected your career and how you market yourself?

DH:  I began my career well into the digital revolution. In fact, I started reading romance on an e-reader! I don’t think I ever would have read romance if it weren’t for the anonymity of my Kindle. (Yes, I’m embarrassed by the covers. You’d never think it about me, right?)

So when I started writing fiction in early 2010, it never occurred to me to write for a print market. I mean, I wasn’t even sure people were going to be reading paper books by the time I got published. So yeah… We are living in a digital world, and I am a digital girl.

TSP:  My site is all about your favorite things.  So what are your favorite things, the things you can't live without?

DH:  CHEESE! I’m a sucker for fancy cheeses. That and wine. And often scotch. I’m not much of a dessert girl, I’m afraid.

I also enjoy biking, RV’ing, watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer with my two little girls (family time!) Oh, and I’m addicted to Millionaire Matchmaker. Patti Stanger is my hero!

Thanks for having me on the blog today! Readers—remember to comment for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble!

Thanks for being here, Daisy!  This was a fun and sexy read and it's great to know there's more to come.

Studenstein (Book two in the Love-Bots series):

A man built for sex… A woman who wants more…

Freedom fighter Shani Brown is determined to drag the ungrateful Royce back to her team in Seattle. Despite his denial of mistreatment, she wants to give him a chance at a better life. Due to her horrific past as an unlicensed love-bot, Shani never plans to have sex again. But Royce’s makers punish him remotely with crippling pain. His only escape is to orgasm. Never one to turn her back on a job, Shani soon finds herself servicing him—and soon after, caring for him.

Love-bot Royce Harden wasn’t looking to be rescued, especially not from the San Francisco BDSM club where he was having a perfectly good time. But rescued he was—by a hellcat bent on delivering him to her people. As Royce starts to trust Shani, he begins to dream of freedom. But freedom comes with a price. Royce must face his vanity, his makers, and even the loss of his sexual upgrades if he’s going to be the man Shani deserves.

EXCERPT:

Shaniqua! You stop thinking about that boy’s butt right this second! Shani didn’t know where that voice in her head came from, since she’d never had a mother in her undead life. But yeah, that voice in her head, her “superego” Frank called it, always called her by her full name.

So as she led Royce around the outside of the building, Shani focused on the quiet ticks of birds, the rustle of leaves, anything to take her mind of those little dimples that had shown right below his hipbones, or his deep and intriguing groan. As they walked, Shani calculated their distance from the van. Q-ter’s transmitter would only block Royce’s signal within one city block. The bathrooms weren’t all that far away, but Shani wasn’t accustomed to greenery and open space. Without urban landmarks, she didn’t trust her sense of distance.

His biceps flexed under her grip—not pulling away, but maybe trying to warn her he could. Shani’d touched Royce more in the past few hours than she’d touched any man since her captivity. She wanted to think it was because the assignment demanded she lead him about—gripping his firm upper arm—in case he tried to escape, but that voice in her head knew better.

Shaniqua! Let go of the boy-toy! In the dark, his skin felt warm and hard in her hand. It was a relief when she blinked in the bright halogen lights of the ladies’ room. No matter how pretty or tempting Royce Harden might be, Shani would never be able to stomach having sex again. And almost but not doing would be worse than never having tried at all.

AUTHOR BIO:

Birkenstock-wearing glamour girl and mother of two by immaculate conception, Daisy Harris still isn’t sure if she writes erotica. Her paranormal romances start out innocently enough. However, her characters behave like complete sluts. Much to Miss Harris’s dismay, the sex tends to get completely out of hand.

If you like science-y subplots, fantastical creatures, and red-hot chemistry, you’ll love Daisy Harris.
