MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

With her latest release, the first in a new series, Ms. Vale once again entertains with a story about a clumsy and easy-to-miss heroine and her years-long crush on a sexy and popular athletic hero.  For years she’s been on the periphery of his life, yet never a part of it, until one klutzy act has him finally noticing her. From that moment on theirs is a sweet and sexy relationship, with a bit of danger thrown in, to keep readers fully invested in their satisfying HEA.

Raleigh Crusie was that girl in high school who went around unnoticed except when she was being bullied or creating a moment of embarrassment with yet another klutzy act.  Throughout that time she kept her crush on Ezra a secret, but with them now working together at the high school she gets closer to him than she ever imagined which has him finally noticing her in a connection that charmed me.  Raleigh’s a likable heroine whose danger-prone antics wore a bit thin at times, but she still endeared herself to me as she always managed to pick herself up and dust herself off.  She never let negativity get her down.  As a teacher she was caring and went above and beyond to help her students which is just one of the reasons why Ezra finally realized what he’s been missing out on and it makes for a cheer-worthy journey to HEA.

Ezra McDuff has always been the town’s golden boy as a top-notch athlete with good looks.  As a grown man he’s still beloved by the townsfolk as the high school coach and wanted by every single gal in town.  Life’s been good to him, unlike the emotional and physical bruises Raleigh’s endured, and he’s just sailed through life with a smile on his face.  One day though he finally takes notice of Raleigh and from there readers get to watch them grow closer together in a charming journey to HEA.  Ezra’s an appealing hero, one who can admit when he’s wrong, and it warmed my heart when he lamented over all the lost time of him not seeing Raleigh’s worth sooner.  Once his eyes were opened he became protective of her and together they dealt with a bit of danger from her past that added a satisfying layer of suspense to the story.

On a whole this was a charming romance of opposites attracting.  The closer Ezra and Raleigh got the more empowered she became as she was no longer the girl nobody noticed.  Once Ezra saw her worth he acted on his burgeoning feelings and wasted no more time, giving a boost to Raleigh’s self-esteem along the way.  It made them a formidable pairing full of heart and soul.  Along with this charming romance came a bit of suspense in a storyline regarding teacher/student relationships.  Ms.Vale dealt with this issue realistically and never glamorized it as it was an event that left its bruises on Raleigh’s past as well as affecting a current student.  There was a lot going on in this series starter but for the most part Ms. Vale juggled every thread nicely and I’m now waiting with bated breath for the next installment in this series.

My rating for this is a B+

*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
