He was too young for her. A decade too young.
Rebecca Stravokraus was the premier publicist in the professional sports. She was extremely smart, capable, and could spin a story like a spider spins its web. She also didn’t lack in confidence.
But there was one thing she couldn’t do. L.O.V.E.
It was the ultimate dirty word, the one emotion that made men, women, and all variations in between turned into possessed, insane beings.
Humanity was not built to love. They were built to work, to play hockey, to fuc—
Cough. To have a great time between the sheets.
That was enough—it had been enough.
Until Kevin declared that Rebecca was what he wanted, until they spent several glorious nights in bed together...until she began to feel.
That couldn’t be. Not now. Not in the future. Not ever.
But Kevin had decided on her and if there was one thing she’d learned about stubborn, alpha hockey players, it was that they didn’t give up.
And Rebecca had to admit that in this case she didn’t want Kevin to give up.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
As a fan of sports romances I was thrilled to discover this new-to-me author and her sweet and sensual tale featuring an older woman fighting her attraction to a younger man determined to win her over. Add in appealing friends and teammates and you’ll find a book series that will put a smile on your face while falling for a slew of charming and endearing hockey players.
Rebecca Stravokraus has been in the background of this series from almost the beginning so it’s about time readers learn her backstory...and what a heartbreaking backstory she has. The loss of her parents and her broken hopes for the future have closed off her heart and keeps her focused on work. Work she can control and with her put-together looks no one will figure out her past or feel sorry for her. She just wants to keep going but it’s clear that the team’s newest player has no intention of being ignored. With each turn of the page he takes her on a merry chase that slowly wore her down in a heartwarming journey to HEA. Through it all Rebecca’s a likable heroine with friends reminiscent of my own friends with both playful and supportive moments. She’s a strong-willed heroine who stood by her parents too, but when it comes to herself she’s determined to take care of things on her own and each time Kevin did something caring for her it threw her for a loop while completely charming me.
Kevin Hayes is at the top of the hockey ranks, a young man in age but wise beyond his years as he has decided that he’s waited for Rebecca long enough. The death of his father may have helped drive him to winning The Cup, but it’s his parents long-time marriage that’s pushing him to finally tell Rebecca how he feels. Her feelings regarding his being ten years younger have her pushing him away while he forges ahead with sweet words and deeds that show her she’ll never be alone as long as he’s around. She may feel unworthy of a HEA with him, but Kevin knows what he wants and as he won her over so too did I become enamored with him. On a whole Kevin’s sweet with a kind heart he’s not afraid to unleash. He loves his mother but is quite talented when it comes to flirtations in this quick yet satisfying romance.
Though this is the sixth installment in the Gold Hockey series it stands strongly on its own courtesy of its likable main couple. It’s a fast-paced read with very little angst, a slow-burn journey teeming with sexual tension that kept me rooting for this pair to finally couple up. I enjoyed glimpses of previous characters, and a few yet to find their own HEA, in this tale with action both on the ice and off that I definitely recommend.
