MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
With all the chaos in the world right now this story was like a breath of fresh air. In a rom-com full of laughs, witty banter, and a flirtatiously fun romance of friends to lovers this story kept me glued to the pages from the very start. It was a delightful start to a new series featuring four friends (Leo, Ashton, Cain, and Sawyer) who become more like family as seen through their playful banter and strong support of each other. Mila was the unofficial fifth member of their group, just one of the boys, but for Leo she slowly became something more in this charming coming of age romance!
This close knit group of friends were wonderful, entertaining, and easy to relate to. The emotions emanating from them were realistic and pulled at my heartstrings, making me laugh one moment while bringing a tear to my eye the next. The guys were typical at times with their bathroom humor and mocking of one another, but showed surprising depth when dealing with matters of the heart. The evolution of Leo and Mila's relationship becoming more was a lovely journey, a difficult one at times as not every decision was the right one, but their connection felt real and it was a journey that captivated me.
As to the characters themselves Leo was an outspoken young man, sexy, flirtatious, and an unrepentant ladies man. Mila was sweet, sassy, strong-willed, and was Leo's perfect match as she gave as good as she got. Their romance (once they admitted it to themselves) was indeed rocky with each making a few poor decisions along the way. There was a lot of push and pull throughout their burgeoning relationship, a few misunderstandings and outside lies that kept them from their HEA, while frustrating me a time or two. There were plenty of angst-fueled scenes but luckily they were nicely balanced with humor...humor that was courtesy of this larger than life group of friends. It was a group who I found thoroughly entertaining but who added to the angst at times between this burgeoning couple, especially the actions of Cain. I truly think he meant well but his intrusions into the romance between Mila and Leo generally made things worse. Despite that, I was still drawn to him as well as Sawyer and Ashton and am greatly anticipating their stories being published soon. Readers looking for an exhilarating and heartwarming romance will definitely want to give this rom-com full of humor and witty banter a chance as it's a story I'm still thinking about long after the turn of the final page!
