It’s a brand new collection of hockey players on display in this series starter based on a fake relationship that quickly becomes more. Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Bishop by Sawyer Bennett, along with my impressions of this fun and flirty romance, which will have you wanting to add this first installment in the Arizona Vengeance series to your bookshelf too!
Meet the Arizona Vengeance, hockey’s hottest new team. They’re burning up the ice—until a one-night-stand with the coach’s daughter freezes one player in his skates.
Bishop Scott, co-captain. Not too shabby, huh? It’s all part of my fresh start with the NHL’s latest expansion team, and that means new teammates, a new coach, a new city, and a big new contract. Basically, I cannot f***ing wait to show my old squad what they’re missing.
But first, I decide to check out the town before the grind begins. Turns out Arizona chicks are totally smokin’, and I’m fortunate enough to meet one who’s looking for the same thing I am: a night of anonymous, unforgettable, no-strings-attached sex.
Fast forward to the Vengeance arena. It’s the last place I expect to see her again—let alone in her own office. Then bells go off and I finally realize who this girl is: Brooke Perron. My new coach’s daughter. All of a sudden, we’re picking up right where we left off, which means our hands are all over each other. That’s when her dad—my boss—walks in. And before I can get a word out, Brooke’s introducing me as her fiancé.
Sure, she just saved my ass. So why do I get the feeling Brooke’s going to turn my world upside down? Maybe it’s because this fake relationship feels way too real...

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:
Readers looking for an afternoon of decadent delights will get just that with this fun and flirty romance that starts off with a fake relationship before becoming oh so much more. It’s an erotically-charged romance with an appealing main couple, and an equally compelling cast of secondary characters that are introduced throughout this story, that charmed me while making me blush a time or two. By the turn of the final page I’m left with a smile on my face while waiting for the next installment in this fun and flirty hockey-fueled romance.
Bishop Scott’s a star on the ice but that didn’t stop his former team from trading him. Making a new start frustrates him, but the moment he locks eyes with a woman in a bar changes his life irrevocably as their one-night stand ends up lasting more than one night. After being caught with the coach’s daughter, and in an attempt to salvage his relationship with the coach, Bishop agrees to her crazy plan of engaging in a fake relationship with an end date clearly defined. It’s a fake relationship that catches him off guard though, warming his heart and putting a smile on his face. He always thought being in a relationship meant being tied down, but for him it’s a freeing time where he embraces the newfound feelings she engenders in him. Being with Brooke brings out his romantic side, a charmer who wears his heart on his sleeve while exuding tons of eroticism. Bishop may have been doubtful of where things would go early on with Brooke, but once he decides he wants to keep her he’s blatant in his displays of affection and support which endeared him to me wholeheartedly.
Brooke Perron had a job she loved in New York, but left it all behind to help her father deal with the grief of her mother’s passing. Trying to deal with all the changes sent her to a bar one night and put her on a direct path to Bishop which ends with a fake relationship. It’s a relationship based on lies but quickly consumes both of them as it becomes more meaningful to them both. With their end date creeping ever closer they’ll be forced into accepting truths that they’ve long kept hidden as they decide if she and Bishop were meant for the long run. Brooke’s a good hearted heroine, though a bit immature in her dealings with her father which sometimes frustrated me. She may have been bold in her first encounter with Bishop, but thereafter he often took the lead in their scorching encounters with her showing bits of naivete. She and Bishop had a crackling connection though, in words and deeds, that utterly charmed me and showed them growing closer the longer their relationship progressed. On a whole, though Brooke was far from perfect, it was her imperfections that made her more likable and easy to relate to.
This was a satisfying series starter for the most part courtesy of its appealing main couple and their scorching connection. Theirs is a fun and flirty relationship, one that’s virtually angst-free, and it kept me fully invested in this story from the first page to the last. They’re a couple who strongly support each other and every time they were together the sparks flew through Bishop’s sexy banter and scorching interludes. Their feelings for each other matured through the story and pulled me along for their journey to HEA. Surrounding this likable main couple was a delightful and eclectic cast of secondary characters. Joining Ms. Bennett’s Cold Fury hockey players is this naughtier version of players that fully enticed me. With glimpses of Eric (the charming seducer quick to laugh), Dax (the teddy bear full of charm), and Legend (steady and solid) running through my mind I was utterly captivated. The player that left the biggest impression though was Tacker whose loss weighs on him heavily, as does the guilt he feels over his fiancee‘s death. He’s a lost soul, made Team Captain as he’s a stand-up guy, but I was left longing for a single smile from him while hoping his story gets told soon. There was a nice flow to this story, a good pace with a beautiful balance of romance and eroticism. It was a feel good story for the most part with the only blemish being Brooke’s friend Nanette, a manipulative woman who treats men as playthings and uses Brooke’s kindness to her benefit. The lack of an epilogue also disappointed me and gave an unfinished feel to the book. Fans of sports romances though will find exhilarating scenes on the ice, along with all the work done off the ice by the players, which rounds out this story perfectly and has created a new fan for these sexy hockey players.
