A QUICK Q&A WITH MS. CASTLE:
TSP: Knowing what you do now about the publishing business, would you have done anything different career-wise?
KTC: Probably start writing sooner :) I would have taken writing classes, gotten my work critiqued my people close to me but also by professionals, and would have started publish sooner.
Now I know that growing as a writer takes time, that writing is never going to be perfect and that there will be some that love what you write, and some that don't…. and it all okay. Our first book isn’t going to be necessarily a smashing success (and who know, maybe it will be :D ), that as great as I think my first book is, it’s never going to be as well written as my last, and I don’t expect everyone to love it.
TSP: What does your writing space look like and do you surround yourself with any particularly inspirational items?
KTC: My writing space needs to be comfortable and quite. I need to be able to concentrate. I move around three spaces around the house that offer me that calm and tranquility. I have a studio with a desk and a nice chair that has reference books that I rarely use (thanks Google). I have a couch in the living room full of pillows to help me sit comfortably, this allows me to hang out with my dog, Raven, and I’m able to look outside and have my thoughts wonder. Lastly, I like writing in my bed; it’s probably not the best place but I love to be comforted by the love and acceptance that my room gives me ;).
TSP: Beyond its synopsis, what do you want us to know about your newest release?
KTC: BCL3, Natalie’s Wedding, it’s hands down the best book I’ve written. The words, the structure, the sentences… but also the many emotions depicted in the story. It was a book that explored topics and feelings that I’ve never have before. The whole BCL series is uncharted territory for me, with love triangles, friend reevaluating their friendship, unexpected love, and so much more. I’ve enjoyed writing every book, but Natalie’s book is the one that took a piece of my heart.
TSP: Which of your books would you like to see made into a movie and who would play the main couple?
KTC: Wouldn’t that be awesome! So far I’ve only published the Bridesmaid Checklist series (BCL) and I do have a dream cast for it:
TSP: Of all the heroes you've written, who's the most heroic in your opinion?
KTC: Since this story is more about friends helping friends, my heroes are the kind you find in real life. Kassandra is the main character, the one that always helps all her friends… no matter what. She in a way is her friend’s hero, always helping them when they need her to: listening to them, feeling for them, acting for them. That’s why I believe that the real hero of the story is her personal hero, who is Josh. Josh is a character I adore, he help Kassie and the girls out as a good hero should, but he also confronts Kassandra when she’s not right and could do better, not necessarily for her friends but for herself. I’ve found that most people who are dedicated to support others sometimes forget that you must always concentrate in yourself before you help others. If you aren’t okay, you won’t be able to be of service to anyone else.
TSP: How has the digital revolution affected your career and how you market yourself? Do you have an eReader yourself?
KTC: Since my whole market plan revolves around digital books, I guess I don’t have a problem with it. You get your copy instantly and you don’t have to go far away to get a good book (some people don’t have a book store close by).
Personally, I read in my Nook. I have the Kindle app, and I buy book there, in Google Books and Barnes and Noble. When I find a book that I love, I do buy printed copies, there’s nothing like the feel of a good book in your hands.
TSP: My site's all about favorite things, so what are your favorite things/the things you can't live without?
KTC: It’s funny that you ask about favorites, because I struggle so much with having just one, lol.
I don't like thinking that I can’t make up my mind and that I’m an indecisive person, but I like so many things that it’s difficult to have just one favorite. Having that said, here it goes:
I can’t live without my family. Never!! That includes Raven, my dog.
I can’t live without my books. Digital of print. I read and reread, it’s what gets me relaxed and centered.
I can’t live without my colors and notebooks.
There’s many other things that I love, like Netflix… but with a good book I don’t even miss it.
And well, if you’ve been here in the south, you can’t live without A/C :D
Thank you so much for having me over!!
I had so much fun.

EXCERPT:
“Why are you here, Josh?” I couldn't hold back my curiosity any longer.
“What do you mean?”
He seemed completely caught off guard by my direct question, and I had to remind myself that he couldn’t see inside my head. I really didn’t know what I wanted to hear, but Edward’s words kept coming back to me. Maybe Josh only wanted to sleep with me, nothing else—although it seemed like a lot of trouble for only a night of pleasure.
“Do you really only care about getting into my pants?” I asked, bordering somewhere between a pleading glance and a glare.
Josh seemed to relax a bit before he answered me. “You know I do. But not in the way that moron phrased it. I don’t want you thinking about it like that.”
“You have no idea what I’m thinking,” I quipped.
“I don’t,” Josh said quietly. “I wish I had a clue.” Then he stepped closer to me and tilted his head. “And obviously you don’t know how I feel about you, either.”
“Then explain it to me.” I didn’t try to back away from him this time.
This time he looked at me with different eyes. I didn’t see myself broken in them anymore.
