Book Release Blitz for My Lucky #13 by Piper Rayne (REVIEW)......

A hockey player down on his luck finds his game improving after meeting a woman who wants nothing to do with players, but his hopes of his luck returning hinge on winning her to his side in this fun and flirty romance.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of My Lucky #13 by Piper Rayne, along with getting my impressions of this first installment in the Hockey Hotties series, then add it to your bookshelf!

Lucky.
The one adjective used to describe my entire hockey career. I prefer to call it hard work, at least I did until my game went to complete crap. I haven’t scored in eight games and my team owner is talking about trading me.
I’ve never believed in superstitions. Never needed one. I suppose I was “lucky” in that way. But now the best way to refer to me is desperate. I’d wear the same socks for an entire year just to be the high-scoring center I used to be.
Imagine my surprise when after spending New Year’s Eve with a woman, I score a hat trick in the next game—that’s three goals in one game for you non-hockey lovers. Now, I have to track her down and bribe her to do it again before every game. Get your mind out of the gutter, I’m not talking about it.
I find her and when I get to know her better, I end up spending more time thinking about her than my game, but she’s made it clear she wants no part of me. She’s going to learn that I didn’t become a professional hockey player without having to fight for what I want.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

After all the emotionally intense books I've read this week, this one was a breath of fresh air!  It was charming, with a bit of humor that put a smile on my face, along with a bit of steam to melt the wall between Aiden and Saige.  After an unforgettable beginning readers will find themselves glued to the pages of this slow-burn romance that's a satisfying series starter.

Aiden Drake's a star hockey player...at least he was until a recent losing streak took over his career and his future.  With talk of him being traded he's desperate to get back in a winning groove.  That winning groove though rests with the woman who threw a glass of wine in his face.  It will take a lot of begging, and a lot of charm, to keep her in his life as his lucky charm as what starts out as a means to an end for him soon becomes something more.  Aiden's devoted to hockey, can't picture his life without it which makes his slump all the more stressful.  Besides hockey, he has a strong love and support of family that made him almost too good to be true.  He's a gentleman when it comes to women but he's still more than capable of talking dirty when it was called for.  He's everything you expect your book hero to be and was just part of what made this a fun read.

Saige is an equally likable heroine, one full of sass who's more than capable of sticking up for herself...hence the wine in Aiden's face.  She's sweet but has a tough exterior, one needed when working in the world of athletics.  Her job though has tainted her perceptions of athletes, as has her recent break-up with an athlete.  It's left her leery of relationships, especially any involving athletes, and is the first hurdle Aiden must overcome in his plan to make her his lucky charm.  In a relationship that starts out as friends, it soon becomes a slow and steady journey to something so much more.

This was a satisfying series starter, one with an appealing main couple, and a charming romance that warmed my heart.  What started out as a friendship, with moments that had them growing closer together through heartfelt talks, soon saw them fighting their obvious attraction to one another in a slow-burn romance that led to sizzling encounters. While much of their journey was entertaining I found much of this tale a bit cookie-cutter with a storyline that was familiar.  That shouldn't deter readers though as this story was ultimately a sweet and sensual feel-good read.  And with delicious secondary characters like Maksim and Ford, I'm looking forward to more stories set within the Hockey Hotties series!

My rating for this is a B+

*I got this book from the author for review in exchange for my honest opinion.
