Book Tour for Dust of My Wings by Carrie Ann Ryan (Guest Post & GIVEAWAY)

There's a new addition to the paranormal genre courtesy of Carrie Ann Ryan that has me on the edge of my seat for future books in this series.  Dust of My Wings presents an intriguing look into the world of angels and the ramifications for humans when the two worlds collide.  Carrie is here today talking about reader's love of the paranormal genre as well as providing a great giveaway.  So keep reading to discover some tantalizing tidbits for Dust of My Wings.

The Draw of the Paranormal

Now, what is the draw of paranormal? Is it the fear of the unknown? The idea that in the paranormal world we can have something that we might not be able to have in our own lives?

I love paranormal, because sometimes real life has too many boundaries. I like to be able to make my own rules, find my own “mate”. In another world, you can find the things don’t exist in our world and if you have a good imagination – mold them to what you desire most.

I like the fact that in paranormal, there is a draw between the heroine and hero that that brings them together on an inherent level. Vampires bite and turn to ash in the sunlight. Werewolves change at the full moon and growl at their displeasure. Mermen swim beneath the sea. Angels fly high above us.

Countless paranormals, and yet I need to know every single one of them. What makes each one tick? Every world is different – but you can find the one you want if you look hard enough. How did the author come up with that world?

In Dust of My Wings I got to have a little bit of it all. I created a world with angels and humans that aren’t so human. You see, in my world, humans are genetic dilutions of supernaturals and if something happens, humans may not be so human. I also got to write about demons, fae, mermen, brownies, dragons….and so much more! Because it’s my series I got so see what my characters wanted to do. I get to write about the paranormal that draws me.

What draws you to the paranormal?

Dust of My Wings by Carrie Ann Ryan

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Neat freak lab tech, Lily Banner lives her life as any ordinary human. She’s dedicated to her work and loves to hang out with her friends at Dante’s Circle, their local bar. When she discovers a strange blue dust at work she meets a handsome stranger holding secrets – and maybe her heart. But after a close call with a thunderstorm, she may not be as ordinary as she thinks.

Shade Griffin is a warrior angel sent to Earth to protect the supernaturals’ secrets. One problem, he can’t stop leaving dust in odd places around town. Now he has to find every ounce of his dust and keep the presence of the supernatural a secret. But after a close encounter with a sexy lab tech and a lightning quick connection, his millennia old loyalties may shift and he could lose more than just his wings in the chaos.

EXCERPT:

“Hi.” Shade smiled and tilted his head.

“Hi,” she breathed.

“You look beautiful, Lily.” He tucked a stray hair behind her ear and she shivered.

“You do too.” She blushed again. Soon she’d be Crayola red. “I mean you look handsome.”

He traced her jaw with a calloused finger. “Thank you. Are you ready to go?”

She swallowed hard. “Uh huh.”

Okay, she really had to remember the English language. This was getting embarrassing.

“Okay then.” He trailed his hand down her arm and wrapped his palm around hers. His warm skin felt like heaven against hers.

She shook her head, clearing her thoughts. How was she supposed to get through a whole date if she couldn’t even formulate thoughts to get out of the door?

With a nod, she gripped his hand tighter and closed the door behind her. He led her to his bike and she smiled.

“I love it, Shade.”

He gave a huge grin. “Thanks. This is my baby. No matter where I am, I try and take her with me.” He rubbed the leather seat and an irrational urge to knock the bike down went through her.

She would not be jealous of a motorcycle. Would not.

  1. What draws me? The element of the unknown. The unlimited possibilities for not only new worlds but of what the hero and heroine can do. I love the idea of a warrior angel. Sounds like an awesome story! cerihebert @ comcast.net

  2. What draws me to the paranormal? A whole new world is created. There are shifters, vampires, dragons, and whatever else the imagination can create. The interaction of humans with the supernatural is fun to read too.

  3. How fun. You not only create worlds, but you create new types of humans and other paranormals. Very interesting.

  4. I'm just getting into paranormals now; I never thought I was the "type," whatever that means. I like the idea of secret lives and worlds that coexist (however uncomfortably) with this one.

  6. What draws me to paranormal is the imaginary of it all. I think it's absolutely amazing that, say, 100 authors decide to write a book about vampires, yet, NONE of their worlds will be exactly the same. Isn't that amazing? Paranormal is the perfect place to escape!
