Book Tour for Blood Avenged by Gabrielle Bisset (Guest Post & Giveaway)

I was supposed to host Gabrielle on my site on Monday, but due to my unexpected hospital stay I was unable to do so.  I didn't want anyone to miss out on this exciting paranormal story, so Gabrielle's here today with a bookmark and gift card giveaway and talking about the vampires in her new release Blood Avenged.  Let's welcome Gabrielle...............

Thanks to the Scarf Princess for having me here today as a part of the Blood Avenged book tour!

Vampires have entered the mainstream in the past few years, so it's common to see them in romance novels.  A key to writing a successful vampire romance is to keep it fresh.  This can be difficult since in reality, there's little new under the sun.  I'd always said I wouldn't embark on any vampire romance series until I had something different to add to the subgenre.  Then one day, I had a discussion with a student after class about power struggles in ancient Rome (I teach history in my day job), and I knew I had my point of attack for the vampire novel.

The foundation of the power struggle within the vampire world is the backdrop to my new series, the Sons of Navarus, of which Blood Avenged is the first book. The Archons, vampires who are in charge of law and order, have begun to kill off vampires to enable them to take over and rule the vampire world.  As sterile vampires by law, they have none of their own, which makes them inherently weak.

The Sons of Navarus is a group of eight vampire males who must protect the elders of the vampire world, the Order of Macaria, along with defeating the Archons.  Both groups originated with the first vampires, Navarus and his wife, Macaria, who was the daughter of the Greek god of the underworld, Hades.  When Navarus and Macaria fell in love, he was a human, but when he chose to be her consort, he began to walk among the night creatures as she did and took on many of the characteristics of the vampire.  His taking of blood began not from the need to feed, but from the desire for connection with his wife.  Gradually, he became the first vampire and turned her.

So the stage is set by the end of Blood Avenged for the civil war between the Archons and the Sons. Each of the eight men belonging to the Sons will have their own story, and since the series is erotic paranormal romance, they'll be spicy.  But the war between the two sides will continue throughout the series, and readers can expect to see it intensify until it comes to a head in the last book.  Right now, the schedule is to release two books in the series each year, with Blood Betrayed due for release in May of this year and Blood Spirit set for release in the fall.

Vampires may be popular, but for me, what's always good reading is a conflict between two sides that are hell-bent on winning.  Both the Archons and the Sons of Navarus will take the fight for control of their world to the death.  Along the way, readers will find out about the private lives of each of the Sons and the women they adore.  Stick around—it's going to get exciting!

BLOOD AVENGED by Gabrielle Bisset

I am everything you desire. I am vampire.

Powerful and manipulative, Vasilije does as he pleases. A vampire beholden to no one, he takes what he desires, drinking deeply the pleasures this life has to offer.

When one of his own is staked, Vasilije must travel to New Orleans to exact his revenge. There he meets Sasa, a beautiful woman who arouses him like no other has for centuries. Vasilije’s need for vengeance is equaled only by his passion for her, but what he finds in his revenge is just the beginning...

EXCERPT:

Vasilije looked around the room he’d just appeared in, his body alert to any danger. He’d followed the sense he’d gotten before Teagan’s spirit had been extinguished and knew he was in his home in New Orleans. Everything about the place was Teagan—from the Turkish cigarettes he smoked, to the bottle of Guinness that sat on the coffee table, to the musky scent that identified him as one of Vasilije’s vampires.

And the beautiful woman staring at him.

“Who did this?” Vasilije demanded.

Big brown eyes stared back at him. “I don’t know. It happened so fast. I left to grab another six pack and when I got back, someone had a stake...”

Vasilije stood watching the stranger as she cried, needing more information but forced to wait until there was a break in her tears.

“Who are you?”

The woman dried her eyes and sniffled. “Sasa. I was his girlfriend.”

At the use of the past tense, she began tearing up again, but Vasilije didn’t have time for it. Whoever had staked Teagan couldn’t have gone too far and any more time wasted with Sasa’s crying may mean he’d lose the fucker.

He moved to leave and her hand caught his arm.

“Please don’t go.”

She looked up at him with such a sad expression for a moment he didn’t want to go. But he couldn’t let Teagan’s murderer escape. Vasilije touched his hand to hers to remove it from his arm, but all this did was make her squeeze tighter.

“Please,” she begged in a voice that matched the pathetic look in her eyes. “Don’t leave me alone now.”

The urge to tear his arm from her hold and leave her to her misery spiked in him, but it was overruled by that small part of him that understood her sadness.

    1. Thanks, Jibriel! I think having the conflict between the vampires instead of humans vs vampires does give it a nice twist. And the villians, the Archons, are shaping up to be quite nasty. ;)

  9. I like a thoughtful author who doesn't just want to jump in on a hot trend...Who prefers to wait until she has a new idea or concept to contribute to the mythology.
